TinTin. When debating on a forum you should try being a little less "closing" with statements like "end of", or in my case last week "I don't give a F*** what you think".

I'm not digging, I'm one trying to help you have more discussions. Sometimes you have some good points to discuss but you won't debate them. You make your statements to be the end of it; they're not, they're your opinion and if you post them here, it makes them up for discussion.

    It's just a comment.

Ps. Saints didn't make a mistake seing Cork (in my opinion) because we didn't want to. We tried to give him a big new contract and he turned it down. He chose to go. What the club did then was get some money for him rather than zero 3-4 months later.

Feel free to discuss my opinion.

Most of us know Jack is a good player; an unsung hero. He was never going to be the main man with Vic and Morgan, so although he and we knew Morgan was off, Corkie decided to go.

Good luck to him and you guys. I think it's a good fit.

One or two here think he wasn't good, one or too thought he was the new messiah. Most thought he was a good squad player who would never let you down and good enough for both teams.

Agree with all that's been said regarding the performances and individually nobody had a bad game. Collectively though, I am concerned that we became so ragged in the last 15 minutes. We lost our composure at the back and resorted to punting it upfield once we had won the ball back, losing possession instantly in the process. We could have played a little keep ball with a bit more confidence, which we should have felt, given the scoreline. It's my only gripe, mind. Great result, bring on Chelsea.

I think it's clear from Ron's comments he wasn't happy about the last 15-20 mins either. There was a weird spell where even the punts out couldn't make the halfway line and Pelle was knackered by then. Thought Gomis looked pants in the first half, sort of anti-Pelle performance. Was he injured?

I have looked at the incident with Fonte and the supposed Penalty. I am of the opinion that a majority of Referee's probably would not have given it. Fonte didn't take the player out, the player ran into him. Fonte was clearly interested in stopping a shot on goal or a cross along the ground. When he collided with Fonte he had got rid of the ball and with so many opposing players about him am doubtful he could claim it was a lost goal scoring opportunity. Mind you they still had the ball in the bottom of the net so would have counted anyway.

Am wondering if we have lost a little fitness compared with Poch's time and the beginning of last season. Not saying we are not fit, but under MP fitness was the top priority....perhaps now less so and we show this towards the end of the match.

Watched MOTD...little discussion about our game, but Gullit highlighted the goal from the corner....two Saints players ran in 2 different directions drawing the Swansea players away from the near post, whilst Virgil ran from the penalty spot to score. VVD almost scored again with another free kick where he was shielded by 2 Saints players. Koeman congratulated Watson on his work in this area. Also evident from early in the season when Yoshida got 3 good headers on goal from corners...one resulting in a goal (not in the league). It is an area we needed to work on...should get more goals from dead ball situations...especially when you consider we have/had players who can deliver a good ball.

    Ryan Bertrand >>>>> Matty Targett

Such a difference, more attacking runs, better defensive positioning.

    Better result.

I believe this is where the loss of Morgan is more acutely felt. Currently you couldn't see Saints putting together a 40 odd pass move as an example.

We're playing a lot more directly and I think the players are finding it difficult to change the style and thought process with the ball once in the lead.

A player like Morgan could get his foot on the ball and hold up play and conduct good spells of possession.

Gomis was nowhere to be seen because he was in Van Dijk's pocket.

I have a feeling it may have been down to a few other things. Not just that. Let's blame the kid though, eh?

For my tuppence worth, Jack Corks problem with us was apparently his agent / Parent who hated us and was influential on his departure? As you say a good squad player but he wasn't getting regular starts, and probably won't do any better at Swansea.

I thought that this was an overall good performance but where we only matching the kind of quality of football within the first twenty minutes of each half. Swansea were disappointing but the possession stats have not come as a surprise as they were given a lot of the ball, especially after the third goal when they looked like the more committed team. Swansea were thwarted by an inability to create meaningful chances whereas Saints seemed to take their foot off the pedal at the point where they could have put the opposition to the sword.

It was intriguing to see the line up that started the game and the fact that Cedric and Van Dijk the only "new" outfield players. The additions over the summer are still trying to find their feet. Cedric does look the best of the bunch after Van Dijk who is clearly the marque signing. Romeo has shown flashes of what s might be capable of but I think Juanmi is perhaps one for the future. I would have to add that JWP is starting to come in to his own and is easily the most improved player this season. I thought he flattered to deceive last season whereas he seems to be increasingly be involved in our best performances so far. That said, I think both Davis, Wanyama and the cultured and tireless Pelle have also looked good so far.

I don't know what people expect from a team sometimes. I know Ron had a moan, but we were 3-0 up against a team who are good and keep the ball well. We'd worked really hard to that point and people were tiring and Swansea came into the game a bit. So what? In any top sport, the opponents will have their moments.

After their penalty, they had one header that went straight to Stekkers; never looked like scoring after that.

Another good thing about yesterday is we finally look threatening from corners. :1980_boogie_down: Van Dijk scored from one and Pelle very nearly scored from another.

That takes us to a net total of zero goals from corners.

I thought about a couple of Not606 members during the game yesterday. Firstly i thought ( a lot ! ) of Tom's post about the ref not being a very good one. Secondly i thought of FLT when Pelle tried another of his daft flicks that didnt come off - it was on about 28 mins as i actually looked at the scoreboard to check and had a little chuckle to myself and could imagine you muttering away !
Anyway a good and much needed win in the sunshine. Chelsea should be there for the taking !

Nice moment from Fabianski. Collided with Pelle and shook off Pelle's outstretched hand. After treatment, he trotted over to Pelle to apologise.

    That shows class.

Pelle didn't rattle my cage once yesterday. I remember the flick attempt. He had not a lot else on and he tried it high up the pitch... If you're going to try it, that's where you do it.

I had my "I love Pelle" badge on yesterday. That or he eventually read all my emails :)
