I love the way that the pundits are belittling City's defence, as if they've had to throw together a bunch of kids. They're putting in very expensive players to replace other expensive players.
Yup, what was they stat they just threw about on BT - £60m on two CBs in the last year? We're not the only ones who buy expensive duds it seems, although the likes of City can buy more of them if need be...
I'm feeling very optimistic about this team now. I am loving Dier and Alli in midfield, our defence looks a hell of a lot more sorted than last year with us having good options at both LB and RB. Rose and Davies offer two very different options, as do Walker and Trippier. We also have a very decent-looking back-up CB in Wimmer. No need to mention Lloris. Still think we could have a bit more threat going forward but even there there's signs of improvement in Son and N'Jie adapting and integrating quickly. And Lamela. Well for a goalscoring young winger who is your record signing you don't really want tackling and tenacity to be his main attributes after two years at the club BUT when everything works according to the plan and now that Poch seems to have the sort of youth and hunger and fitness that he seems to want in the team as a whole then it works and he looks a key player. Still feel like he could get literally any pass wrong but today it just felt like if that happened he'd scurry over and help win the ball back anyway. He has to really start to look more of a genuine attacking threat when on the ball (I know about his assists but overall his attacking play has looked poor) but I can't help but think that it's now a hell of a lot more likely than I did pre-season. And for a young guy who looks so keen to work hard and follow instructions and bring himself on then surely he'll be spending extra time on the training pitch practicing with his right foot. Very pleased for him today. We're where we are so far this season and Eriksen and Kane have barely begun. Good times.
Haha, yeah didn't want to bring this up but I have to say, as much as it hurt to lose against Arsenal I'm far happier with the results being this way around. As I said during the game, I thought City were looking a little tired in the second half, perhaps a consequence of a number of their players starting midweek whilst only Dier, Eriksen and Kane did for us. Still Pochettino's not completely off the hook as starting Fazio was an abysmal decision
I predicted the team would lose to city...just wanted a good performance. .. And boy did they give one...I dont agree with the fazio decision but today he won my Confidence back today...not just cos of the win...but coming back from a dodgy goal...the style of play and the commitment. Great from all involved
When is Bentaleb back? I guess Verts could play a game at DM with Wimmer at CB? Hopefully we keep winning the EL games and once we're definitely qualified from the group we can just play Winks.
I switched the game on for 2 minutes and got to see De Bruyne score. So then I switched it off and didn't bother to watch any of the rest. Yay!
Just got home. Two things to say : 1. WTF (pure and simple) !!?? 2. Assuming a vaguely decent performance, could the boys not have found just a small percentage of today to overcome the Goons the other day ??
Absolutely terrible offside officiating on nearly all the goals. But Spurs NOT on the <standard> end of them.
Soldado's best position for us was always on Twitter. Gotta like the guy, though. Best worst signing ever.
That scoreline means we have the joint best defence in the league!! Nobody has let in fewer goals. When was the last time you could say that about Spurs this far into a season?
Remember a few years back when Bale was almost loaned to Birmingham in the January transfer window, only to get a last minute reprieve? Here's hoping that today was a sign that Lamela's aborted loan to Lyon has a similar effect to his Spurs career. Hopefully this result also makes that Jagermeister fudge I bought taste sweet. I have a bad feeling that it won't, though...
