Has something been released by Apple today? I went to town earlier and saw this: I do find it hilarious that people queue to spend money in the Apple store. The odd thing is that the people in the queue didn't like my laughter and then my taking the picture. Almost as if they realised they looked foolish. Vin
I know people draw up bucket lists....my number one is now ripping earphones off a person on a bus and jumping up and down on them (the earphones, not the person). Had 2 people today listening to loud music....it was like having tinnitus....and then one starting singing along with her track
I'm with you on this, Fran. I can quite understand someone listening to music on headphones, but not at a volume which means the rest of the bus/train/whatever gets to listen. I want to rip the headphones off and shout "Do you want to be deaf when you're 40?" in their faces. A friend of mine knows a consultant in the ENT department of a big hospital - he says that deafness is going to be a major concern very soon because of all of this ................. Worrying ............ As for singing along .......... don't get me started .........
Even worse when said people are walking across roads expecting the traffic to decide whether they live or die because their senses are elsewhere.
As a kid, flicking through the albums in Suttons, in Shirley; I was going to buy some other album, IIRC, but that song was why I eventually decided to buy Rubber Soul. And I still have it. I've just looked inside the sleeve and the label says 19/11d. What gets me is how did I afford to go to Saints matches and buy records, as well.? I was a bit too young for a paper round. I did get 10/- pocket money a week, but almost all of that went on Saints. It doesn't add up.!?!
Actually, I've just worked out how I could afford to buy albums and watch Saints as well. They didn't play during the summer but I still got pocket money.
Jay walking is the national sport in Bristol, or at least it was until that particular gene was deleted from the local pool by natural selection.
I still buy vinyl, albeit second hand in the Oxfam shop in Southampton. I have a Linn record deck, Linn speakers and A&R Cambridge amp, which is still going strong after nearly 30 years! There is still a special thrill in getting the disc out of it's sleeve, putting it on the deck, cleaning it and putting the stylus onto the lead in groove, then a few crackles and then...... that smooth music!
12" of pure pleasure, unless you're a fan of 7" of course. Throwing a few 80s LPs at the Mitsubishi linear tonight and struck again by how good it sounds (despite the odd crackle/click) compared to CDs. Don't get me going about mp3s.
During the recent work on the house and clearing of stuff, I found my old vynl. My guilty secret favourite 12" in there... Timex Social Club, "Rumours" ... I know
Putting vinyl on the deck is like opening a bottle of wine with a corkscrew. Both are full of so much promise. You just know it is going to be vintage.
Wahey..! We could bore a few here, ODB. Mine is a Sondek/Ittok/Troika with Naim 62/42 amps and Kef Ref 104/2 speakers. Bought around 1990. Who needs CDs.?
So... a top UKIP donor has called their only MP 'borderline autistic with mental illness wrapped in'. Good to see they're putting on a united front.
