It will affect his life though. He might not have ever put a foot wrong. I'd rather people that actually had a handle in wrong doings were made to resign and shamed. I actually feel for the guy if he had no idea. Is he supposed to micro manage every bugger that works for VW?
For some money isn't everything. He has accepted responsibility and he knows that, whether he is paid or not, his life will now revolve around the long and unpleasant fall-out from this. Rather him than me.
His name will soon be forgotten in regard to the VW fiddles. Your right about the long and unpleasant fall-out, though I think others within VAG and the other car manufacturers have more to worry about than him.
It might be worth a try, I think you have a cooling of period in case you change your mind or its not what you were expecting . I can't understand anyone getting a diesel car nowadays we got the new Leon FR with 1.4 petrol engine, it goes like s××t of a stick, 50 + to the gallon and £36 road tax.
Is that what the trip computer said? Because it's ****ing useless in mk4's. Mine said I was getting 38-42 out my 2.3 V5, when I actually calculated the real figure it was 23mpg. 77mpg just ain't gonna happen.
The Diesel engine is faster and better on fuel. Personally I'd rather have 220 brake petrol engine but they don't offer it in the car I'm getting, it's either the 180 or 280 brake. 280 is just far too thirsty for the use it will be getting and the 180 is only so marginally quicker as to be its equal in power but far worse on fuel economy. So EA189 it was.
Fancy a cheap VW? ‘Worried British car buyers are cancelling orders – while industry experts say consumers can now ‘name their price’ for VW cars’. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...pounds-car-makers-overstating-efficiency.html
I'm going in to the dealership where I ordered mine tomorrow. Don't know whether to cancel it outright, switch it to a petrol engine or negotiate a far lower price and stick with the diesel. I'm of a mind to just cancel it and wait to see what happens but I need a new more economical car sooner rather than later and now seems a good time to negotiate a good bargain. Not to mention with the reported masses of cancellations the build time is likely to be dramatically reduced. If I do cancel it I'll be able to get the deposit back won't i?
Volkswagen says it will recall up to 11 million vehicles in an attempt to move on from the scandal over attempts to cheat tests involving its diesel engines. New chief executive Matthias Mueller said the German manufacturer will ask customers with some diesel models to come in "in the next few days" for modifications. Those that contained illegal software will have to be refitted, the company announced - a move which some analysts have said could cost more than £4.2bn ($6.5bn). Costly error.
Around 11 million vehicles worldwide are thought to have been built with these so-called “defeat devices”. These have now been confirmed as: • 5 million VW cars • 2.1 million Audi •1.2 million Skoda •700,000 Seat • 1.8 million commercial vehicles, such as vans The defeat devices were built into diesel vehicles manufactured between 2009 and 2015.
From bankers to car makers, to pharmaceutical giants it seems that industry and big corporations are nothing but rogues and those that run them never face procecution in fact many get huge payoff for their misdemeaners. Put alongside cheating, caniving footballers for which many of us look to for a diversion from the real world and it looks like we are stuffed.
