If they finish in the top-two of that group they will advance to the Elite Round qualifiers in March.
A big shout for Ryan Sessegnon and a certain Matthew O'Riley who have made the England Under-16s squad for the Tournoi International in France next month. Source and full details: http://www.thefa.com/news/england/d...rnoi-international-230915#BlSoVvh1i8wC6eko.99
Matt's just got back from injury..scored for 16's v saints a couple of weeks ago and FYI the 16's won their regional group last weekend to qualify for Premier league finals again in a few weeks at Warwick..pleased to know they beat Chelski 2-0 and Brighton 3-0 (lost in first game to Saints but didnt matter!). U15's also qualified for next weekends finals..Busy time for Matt!!
And, quite rightly, a very proud Dad I guess. Will be rooting for him Doriley, and the team(s) as well, of course. [Forgive me for blunting the post a bit, but this is exactly the sort of stuff the Club should be shouting from the rooftops. It really annoys me that we hear little (or more precisely, nothing outside of the U21s) of the Academy and the younger players on the Official website these days]
And the young man scored in his debut as England thrashed San Marino 8-0 in their opening qualifying game. Match report: http://www.thefa.com/news/england/d...-round-qualifiers-england-v-san-marino-290915 More good news - Jordan Evans has been called up for the Welsh U21s.
Here’s the current group of other call ups. Perversely quite good from a ‘squad training’ point of view that few are first teamers – Sakari Matilla probably being the only one we could have done with staying at home. Senior Team Jesse Joronen (out on loan) – Finland (European Championship Qualifiers) Sakari Mattila – Finland (European Championship Qualifiers) Jazz Richards – Wales (European Championship Qualifiers) U23s Emerson Hyndman – United States (Olympic Qualifiers) U22s Cameron Burgess – Australia (Friendlies) Adam Taggart (out on loan) – Australia (Friendlies) U21s Lasse Vigen Christensen – Denmark (UEFA U21 Qualifiers) Liam Donnelly (out on loan) – Northern Ireland (UEFA U21 Qualifier) Jordan Evans – Wales (UEFA U21 Qualifier) Mattias Kait – Estonia (UEFA U21 Qualifiers) Sean Kavanagh – Republic of Ireland (UEFA U21 Qualifiers) Marek Rodák – Slovakia (UEFA U21 Qualifiers) Cauley Woodrow – England (UEFA U21 Qualifier) U19s Aron Davies – Wales (Training camp) U17s Luca de la Torre – United States (Friendlies, World Cup) Tayo Edun – England (Friendly, World Cup)
"Fresh from scoring on his debut against San Marino two days ago, Dennis Adeniran was given another start for England Under-17s as they defeated Armenia 5-0 in their European Qualifier on Thursday. The Young Lions were two goals to the good come half-time thanks to Andre Dozzell and Reiss Nelson, who grabbed two more after the break to complete his hat-trick. Adeniran was then replaced just before the hour mark by Elliot Embleton, who notched the final goal of the game late on."
A fair bit of "Fulham" in the Greece v Hungary game today. Stafylidis (1st goal) and Mitroglou (3rd) for Greece; Kiraly (letting in 4) and Zoltan Gera (No.10) for Hungary. Here's a clip of the highlights - it ended 4-3 in favour of the Greeks, not the other way round as suggest in the clip title.
And here's how the rest of the boys got on - ”Saturday saw Jazz Richards’ Wales secure qualification for next year’s European Championship, despite a 2-0 defeat away to Bosnia-Herzegovina. The Fulham right-back played the full 90 minutes of the encounter, with the knowledge that a point would guarantee their place in France. That didn’t happen as second-half strikes from Milan Djuric and Vedad Ibisevic earned the hosts victory, but Cyprus’ win over Israel meant that Chris Coleman’s side cannot be caught in second place in Group B, thereby securing qualification for a major tournament for the first time since the 1958 World Cup. In Group F on Sunday, Sakari Mattila played the entirety of Finland’s 1-1 draw with Northern Ireland in Helsinski. It was a dead rubber for the Finns after their draw with Romania three days earlier ended their qualification hopes, and they fell behind to Craig Cathcart’s header just after the half-hour mark. Paulus Arajuuri equalised late on for the home side but Northern Ireland still finished top of the group with the point. Jesse Joronen was an unused substitute for Finland. In qualifying for the Under-21 European Championship, Lasse Vigen Christensen captained Denmark in their goalless draw at home to Wales, with Jordan Evans coming off the bench for the visitors. That was Denmark’s first match of the campaign and they’re in action again in Group 5 on Tuesday when they host Bulgaria. The Republic of Ireland made it three wins from three in Group 2 as they comfortably defeated Lithuania 3-0 in Waterford on Friday, with Sean Kavanagh seeing 90 minutes. Two goals in four first-half minutes from Callum O’Dowda and Conor Wilkinson put them in control, and Kavanagh set up Alan Browne for the result-clinching third strike on 77. Next up they face second-place Italy – who also boast a 100 per cent record – in Vicenza on Tuesday. In Group 6, Mattias Kait played the entirety of 10-man Estonia’s 5-0 defeat in Sweden. It was always going to be a struggle for the visitors after Madis Vihmann was sent off after just eight minutes, and goals from Melker Hallberg and Gustav Engvall (2) gave the Scandinavians an assertive half-time lead, before Ferhad Ayaz’s late brace completed the rout. It’s a result that leaves Estonia bottom of the group with just one point from four matches. Earlier last week, Tayo Edun came on for the second half as England Under-17s thumped Democratic Republic of Congo 8-0 in their penultimate World Cup warm-up. please log in to view this image Chrissy Willock, Marcus Edwards, Kazaiah Sterling (2), Ike Ugbo (2), Stephy Mavididi and Kaylen Hinds sealed the win for the Young Lions, who kick off the tournament against Guinea on Saturday. In Olympic qualifying, Emerson Hyndman played 64 minutes of the United States Under-23s’ 2-0 Semi-Final defeat by Honduras on Saturday. They do still have a chance of reaching the Games, but need to beat Canada in Tuesday’s Third-Place meeting in order to set up a Play-Off with Colombia for a spot at the Rio Olympics next year. On Friday, Adam Taggart started and Cameron Burgess was named amongst the substitutes as Australia U23s were beaten 2-0 by Korea Republic. The two sides will meet again in Incheon this week."
Mixed night for the boys - ”Tim Ream’s United States were beaten 1-0 by Costa Rica in a friendly match at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday. On his return to his former ground, the Fulham defender drew a save from Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas on the half-hour mark when he connected with Brek Shea’s free-kick. He was replaced by Birmingham City’s Jonathan Spector on 63 minutes, and Costa Rica hit the winner not long after through Arsenal striker Joel Campbell. Lasse Vigen Christensen captained Denmark Under-21s to a 1-0 win over Bulgaria in their European Championship Qualifier in Aalborg. The Fulham midfielder played the full 90 as Andrew Hjulsager struck the winner against the Group 5 leaders on 71 minutes to move Denmark onto four points from two games. That puts them five behind the Bulgarians who remain at the summit, but they do have three fixtures in hand. Another man wearing the armband for his country was Liam Donnelly, but his result was less favourable as Northern Ireland were beaten 2-1 at home by FYR Macedonia. The hosts had taken a lead into half-time courtesy of a strike by Watford man Josh Doherty, but Macedonia were level a minute after the restart through Enis Bardi’s effort. Kire Markoski then netted with five minutes remaining to earn victory for the visitors, leaving Northern Ireland sitting in fifth spot with just a point gained from three outings. In Group 2, Sean Kavanagh featured for 85 minutes of the Republic of Ireland’s narrow 1-0 loss to Italy in Vicenza. Perugia’s Vittorio Parigini came off the bench to snatch the winner in the 66th minute, but Ireland couldn’t find an equaliser despite the hosts playing with 10 men for the final 20 after Fiorentina forward Federico Bernardeschi was shown a second yellow card. The result saw the Azzurri leap to the top of the standings, having moved level on points with Ireland. Elsewhere, young Mattias Kait played 70 minutes of Estonia’s 3-0 defeat in Georgia. The damage was done in the first half with Otar Kakabadze, Nika Katcharava and Otar Kiteishvili all on target, as Estonia remain at the bottom of Group 6. At Under-23 level, the United States’ hopes of qualifying for next year’s Olympic Games remain intact after they defeated Canada 2-0 in the CONCACAF Men's Qualifying Championship Third Place match. Emerson Hyndman came on just after the hour mark, and his side went on to progress as Marc Pelosi and Jerome Kiesewetter found the net. They’ll now take on Colombia in March, with the victors securing their place in Rio next summer.”
