German giants Schalke are preparing a January swoop on Championship club Queens Park Rangers for Junior Hoilett, according to ESPN. The Gelsenkirchen-based outfit are in the market to replace Julian Draxler who departed in the summer for Wolfsburg, and appear to have identified Hoilett as the man to do so. The Canadian international has fallen down the pecking order at Loftus Road, with boss Chris Ramsey admitting that he is willing to listen to offers for the 25-year-old in January. Even Roberto di Matteo resigned from Schalke, citing lack of ambition. Hoilett sounds just right for them.
Don't think it's very nice to taunt your fellow R's fans with such news. Downright distasteful if you ask me.
He plays like an under-cooked sausage so perhaps he'll be mustard over there....or will he leave them sauerkrauts?
Not me really. It would yet another failure by our Club to get the best out of a player. There have been many lately. I expect Hoillet to achieve more with a move away.
It's beginning to be a few years now and perhaps my hard disc is wearing out, but I don't remember him being ****e when he was a Blackburn player in the PL. To me he still looks like a very decent player basically but totalling lacking in all self belief in his ability to produce anything. New surroundings may fix him
I really believe people make too much of that one season. Football is littered with one season wonders. Surely you've got to have 2 or 3 good seasons before you can say he's a good player lacking belief? Because one good season and several bad ones don't account for your conclusion Ozzie
He came to us having had a good season at Blackburn but failed to maintain that form. Aside from a few glimpses of what he is capable of (the determination to get the ball to cross to BZ at Wembley being one of them), he hasn't looked that good.
No maybe not. But I still get the impression he's good for the first 10 or 20 minutes he runs with the ball, before he suffers some perceived idea that this is really serious, can't handle it, and shoots high and wild or forgets to avoid the incoming.
Which adds up to he's not very good. If you have talent but can't use it because of lack of confidence or whatever, you might as well not have talent. I was quite pleased when we got him and wingers are often inconsistent, but he has rarely shown enough to get a decent run in the team which is probably what he needs. Mbia Granero Diakite Hoilett Fer McCarthy Caulker Sandro Yun Cesar All players I thought very positively about when we got them, all only delivered in flashes, if at all. Probably a bunch of others who I have blocked from my mind. Perhaps we are cursed, or just ****, if we can't get more from what look like decent players. I hope we don't do the same to Chery, Luongo, Gladwin, Hall.
