Diego costa done for violent conduct...even after a ref booked him for it! Disgracegul from the fa there!! Wonder where their heads where when matic got mowed down by barnes, but regardless do the crime, do the time diego.
Given the ref booked him for one incident but missed about 58 others, it's not that surprising. As for the Matic one, it only looked bad because he acted like a tart and went and shoved Barnes, who kicked the ball and caught Matic on the follow-through as much as Chelsea sought to villify Barnes for going out to 'do' him.
Okay lets be honest. It was a slap and it was violent conduct. I want to defend him because I love seeing that kind of passion in a player, but when it crosses into plain outright violent conduct I'm not a fan. He deserves the ban. On a side note, lets also not deny that he has been average so far this season. His aggression and general all round play is great but he won't be a massive loss. I have full faith in Remy and Falcao to step up.
I think you'll be a better side with Remy up top trying to play football in place of Costa trying to have a handbag fight with every centre half. Costa's attitude this season has been bizarre. Basically when it's not going his way he flips. No wonder Mourinho likes him!
With you all the way on that Varier2! Disciplinary penalty's for violent conduct must be given even when they are by someone who clearly rises to the boil much easier than than most. I always remember Chopper Harris who was never shy In dishing out a fair share of brutal contact but never ever seemed to go up to boiling point when he clashed with his oppos.
Again lets be fair. The handbags are nothing when he is playing well (in general). When Costa is on form he is a monster. But when he isnt playing well the handbags are the only part of the game that really stand out so your point is valid. Its more a question of Costa being out of form in my opinion rather than if his general on form is good or not.
Not sure why we've been charged with failing to control our players when we finished with XI on the pitch though? Sure, charge Costa but the whole team, really? As for the ban, it was expected and hasn't bothered me in the slightest. If anything I almost wanted it to happen so it gives Remy or Falcao a chance to show us what they can do.
I see this blessing in Disguise. Remy needs a proper run of games. But FA and the entire press pushing Team & Jose is a joke.
A blessing in disguise is right. Especially as the press are now vilifying the whole team. Hopefully that will realign some of the heads and bring some much needed unity to the side again.
Varier hit it on the nose. Costa is in dreadful form, but his ridiculous agro is a blight on his game. He is not worth 2 bob to the team when banned. Personally I'd go a bit further than Varier, in that I think Costas' a liability. He isn't scoring and he is not direct enough In his play, lurking out on the sidelines far too much for a "one up front" formation. While he's a good player for us when in form, his injuries and suspensions mean he just doesn't give us value. I hope Remy finally gets a run of games, though I fear Falcao will play as well, and he's about as useful as a spare navel. Maybe with some decent through ball from a decent midfielder, Costa might show what he did for the first few months after he joined. Hope springs eternal.
Read the Laws - Violent Conduct is a Red Card offence so whatever he got the Yellow for it wasn't that. He was extremely lucky the ref didn't see it in real time - it could have caused the whole course of the match to be different.
And now gabriel, seen to flick out at costa has been CLEARED of violent conduct! Jose will have a field day with this'un.
So, as long as we try not to hit others too hard its not an offence? This is the road the fa are leading us down, biased trials by media. Veeeery close to re-officiating matches too...
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-beat-gabriels-red-card-6494420 Supposedly Gabriel didn't actually make any contact.
If the correct decision is reached, does it really matter? For me, Gabriel should have gone for two yellows and Costa for a straight red.
"It is almost unheard of for the FA to overturn a three game ban" Weren't Arsenal the only club to ever get UEFA to overturn a ban, after they got Eduardo off for diving a few years back? Dirty Gooners, always getting preferential treatment
