8 games in and I am quite happy I reckon we are in better shape than many of us thought we would be 2 months ago I'd previously gone for 11th at Christmas and 6th at the end of the season I reckon we will do better than that At times at home the team has looked very good I think we might Tonk someone soon The team is full of people who can score a goal I also think the defence is ok and will start conceding less We also have the likes of Fer to come back and Yun may add some pace down the left though Konchesky has done well to date Smithies minus the mistakes has looked good and made some good stops We all know we want to play Faurlin every game The managr seems to know this but knows more than us that this is not possible So stop moaning or I'll get Taraabt back Ps the championship is great Spurs fans currently wonder if they will come 7th or 5th Watford fans dream of 16th
If this was a first term school report it would read: Must pay more attention and could definitely do better.
Well I would have taken 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses after 8 games at the start of the season. The forest game without the Green blunder would have been another win, JET's miss against Derby was another, there are a lot of fine margins in this game. We are steadily getting points on the board and we havent hit our stride yet. Peaking too early in this league can really cost you.
So agree with this, we do not want to be setting the pace.....but we do not want to lose too many points to Boro, Burnley and Brighton (who I think are too high) We need to develop the team...and imho...it is coming along nicely
Too early for a school report but I don't like the style we are playing, not getting the ball down and passing as I would like, however I agree there are positives and it's definitely not all doom and gloom.
Sounds like we had a much better shape yesterday and I doubt many teams will have more of the ball than Hull at their ground. Faurlin is so important it's scary.
Our main weakness is in defence. It's all well and good scoring goals, but when we are leaky at the back, it doesn't help. GD could be crucial this season and more importantly, IMO we HAVE to be challenging for top spot by January or Chas will be off and the whole thing goes up the pictures.
It's still a work in progress at this stage. looks like his workload will be managed very closely, if he gets through the season unscathed with 25+ games under his belt that would be awesome. Too soon to judge an unfit Tozser but he might be a good stand in. Would love to see more if Doughty as I reckon he is the real heir apparent.
As Frome says, we're a work in progress and we need to tighten up at the back. I feel we still don't have a proper pattern of play to put opponents under pressure, hence we seem to drift through periods of a game under the cosh ourselves, as the last three games have shown. We're one win off 3rd place so no grounds for complaint as yet, if we can hold a Top 8 position till Christmas we will be in a good place to strengthen and kick on in the 2nd half of the season, assuming Charlie will stay...
In a way it's far more encouraging than many of us on here thought it would be.....keep picking up points and keeping on the coat tails of the top 6 until January then who knows....kick on for an automatic spot or another day out at Wembley?
Think it would have to be an auto spot for me tram....going up via Wembley is the best way imo, but not sure I could stand another nervy day. auto and be sure!!!!
