Remember the Dragonfly flat twin ? Odd bike at the time. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e4/Douglas_Dragonfly_motorcycle.jpg
Was having a nosey on Google maps and it's sad seeing the Van Leer football pitch off southcoates lane all overgrown. T'was a good pitch. Harks back to a time when these big companies gave something back to the workers. Used to play football and cricket on there as kids. We'd sneak on through the back gardens on fire station houses. The guard would occasionally chase us off, but we'd get away with it mostly. Though he did get pissed off when we started playing cricket on the bowling green.
You can have both. When I was a kid, my auntie had a bike and sidecar racing team based at her farm at Woodmansey and the bike had a Hillman Imp engine... please log in to view this image
Got one of those I'm converting into a trials bike at the moment. Should look something like this: please log in to view this image
Bantams were fairly crude. I've been brought up on British bikes and fortunately I've seen some great machines courtesy of my Dad. He's had a Brough Superior amongst many BSAs and his current favourites are New Imperials of which he has 3!!!
Discarded chewing gum littering pavements, don't see that anymore . Kids dion't seem to bother with it much these days.......their all on crack.
Kids nicking apples. Just round the corner from me there's an apple tree with the apples just falling into the tenfoot. Nobody's tekkin them. Crying shame. I got a load off the tree for the mrs to do a crumble.
