Sakho signs new long-term LFC contract

Liverpool FC are delighted to announce Mamadou Sakho has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The Frenchman, who arrived at Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2013, put pen to paper on a fresh deal at Melwood today.
Sakho has made 47 appearances for the Reds since making the switch to England, and wore the captain's armband for the first time during Thursday's 1-1 Europa League draw with Bordeaux in his homeland.
After committing his future to the club, the 25-year-old told Liverpoolfc.com: “I am very happy to sign a long-term contract with Liverpool because, as I’ve always said, I am very happy here and my family are happy in Liverpool.
“I will keep working because I am a Liverpool soldier and when Liverpool need me, I try to give my best. I am happy to stay as a Scouser!
“I work all the time 100 per cent, I try to stay professional and I give my best for this city and this club.
“It is important for me because every day when I wake up, I am very happy to come into the training ground with all the players.”

Where'd that come from? Like all, I hope this means he well in Rodgers plans in both the immediate and longterm future.

Good. Was worried when rumours late in the window about going out on loan or moving on perm basis but glad he's staying.

Hope me he stays injury free and makes that position his own

 

Hope he has a clause in his contract that says every time Lovren is picked ahead of him he gets a monetary bonus. Got to have some compensation for that tosspot being picked ahead of him.

Great news that the one leader in this team signs a contract.

The fact he keeps having to prove himself into the team is ridiculous but hopefully he's done enough to stay in the first XI.

Here's my crazy prediction. If he's not picked tomorrow this is a club rather than manager decision and Brendans on his way out...

 

Glad to see him tied to a long term deal, I like this lad, I think he's good, granted he's had shakey moments but on form he's a beast, lets hope he shows and keeps form.

Or the rumours about his departure were true but a fee couldn't be agreed. The new contract gives the player and pay increase to keep him happy but also a release clause that the club are happy with. #justathought

But with the Euro;s next year, he can't afford to not be playing. Which is why I think he has been given assurances that he will play more games be it from the manager or the owners.
