Probably fair result overall. Certainly Daryl should have probably scored with his chance of the header but Brum look a good side set up well away from home, so take the point and look forward to the united GAME
Another point, but perhaps should have been all 3. 3 subs clearly made an impact...must ask why not start with our stronger line-up?
Good point, but think Mick is happy that squad is stronger then last season, certainly think Niles, Toure and Fraser all good accquisitions
Sport Lemon was decent, press full screen and the ads vanished! Thoughts - * Poor first half, improved second. * Lets get this sodding cup game out the way once and for all. Not sure it's helping any. * Toure did well on first league start. * Shame Fraser/ Murphy/ McGoldrick not 100% fit. Hope all NOT start at OT and are back ready for Bristol City - Murphy does need a goal though. * Definitely a problem with defensive inability to pass the ball to feet. NOT helping midfield whatsoever, Berra / Smith / Chambers are GOING TO HAVE to learn to use the ball a lot better. * Very poor CM. Need to come looking for the ball more but links with the post above..... we NEED a balance here.
A complete load of bollux from us if you ask me! We were the home side FFS and we had no periods of sustained pressure throughout the whole game. It comes to something when we pat ourselves on the back for getting a point from a very dodgy penalty. Not good enough!
Thought we looked decent and certainly the most likely to win, I agree that Berra looked average tonight and I thought Goldy didn't do much when he came on, on a more positive note I thought that Toure was impressive........I think we would have taken all three points had Berra not slipped at the worst possible time but **** happens on to the next.
Too much hoof ball,Murphy looked well off the pace when he came on.As others have already commented Berra looked like Bambi on ice(most uncharacteristic)Niles did well carrying the ball half the length of the pitch to win the penalty.Still yet to be convinced by Knudsen.
I think the slippy pitch made for a different game in the end! Not too fussed myself, onwards and upwards. Just watched the Knudsen interview on Player... Comes across as a really nice lad who's over the moon to be at Ipswich! I'm loving the depth of our squad this year, should really benefit us especially when we reach mid season.
No periods of sustained pressure JWM?? They couldn't get out of their half for a good chunk of the middle part of the first half. Not impressed with Knudsens wayward passing, thought Toure was good and Pitman and Sears had a good first half. AMN was the star for us. Brum wouldn't have scored if it wasn't for the unfortunate slip so I'm not overly fussed about the result, it's just one of those things. Gerken still annoys me because he punts the ball long every time he has it in his hands, is he incapable of throwing it out and building from the back?. Skuse was good, so was Smith. Chambers really needed Toure's help doubling up on Gray and I thought that worked out pretty well. McG has all the skills, I still think he's selfish at times though.
Should have won it at the end, a little more sharpness needed in the box. Although I agreed with the subs I think they had a negative impact on Sears. Would have kept him next to Murphy with mcg behind them. But wouldn't be complaining if Murphy stuck his header in, ball fell to anyone but chambers etc. Don't think the penalty was dodgy. At first I thought Niles slipped but replays showed there was definitely contact. Anywhere else on the pitch its a late tackle and a free kick. Credit to the ref for seeing it. Either way the run deserved a goal so I was pleased to see it end with one. On to Old Trafford.
