Sell Jose now or lose him for free at the end of next season? It would seem these are the only two options as he's refusing to commit to a new deal.

So I've compiled two short lists of pro's and cons of keeping him or selling him :

    Sell Him Now :

    Pros

    - More money to spend

    - We might see more of Ferguson next year

    - Potential unrest he might cause will end

    Cons :

    - We lose one of the best left backs in the league

    - Jonas and Colo might be unhappy

    - Jonas and Jose combinations down the left will be no more

    - Clubs will know we need a LB so could raise their prices

    Keep Jose :

    Pros :

    - We keep an amazing left back

    - Three Amigos stay intact

    - No need to look for direct replacement

    Cons :

    - We will lose a great left back for nothing

    - He could be unhappy and his performances might drop

    - This saga could continue until the last day

Sorry for stating the obvious on a few of the points , but they're still points :D

Feel free to add a few pros and cons if you want.

Rather keep him on in the hope that we do well this season and he signs a new deal instead of leaving.

Even if he didnt sign the new deal I'd still keep him as he will be very hard to replace, keeping these types of players is paramount to staying in this league, relegation would cost a lot more than Jose going for nowt.

Keep him til next season, even if someone offered £10m for him it would be defeating the object of supporting a football club. You can't play a briefcase full of cash at LB can you? He's almost irreplaceable so let's get every minute we can out of him.

This is a huge season for us so in the long term we'd be better off even if he went for free next summer. This season could define where we go in the next three years. We need to build on what we acheived last season and he is an intergral part of that.

If he definetley is wanting out, which seems more likely, because we havent heard any recent stories of him wanting to stay with us. I'd sell him on now. Get a decent amount of cash for him, which we could hopefully use to find a much needed striker, and a replacement for him.

I do like what Geordie Boot Boy says though, where by we keep him, and that he signs a new contract. But, I hate to say it, I just dont think its going to happen.

Who's to say the money he's sold for will go back into buying an equivalent replacement anyway? Hopefully he stays, the club progresses, no huge clubs come for him, and he signs an optimistic extension.

Depends if we will receive the money to spend on replacing Jose or will Ashley just keep it so might aswell let him leave for free next season anyway

Looking more and more likely that hes not going anywhere anyway, nobody seems to be interested.

That we know of. Come on, our club arent exactly the best at keeping the fans informed are they? They only tell us what they think they want us to hear. Wouldnt be a suprise, if someone had made a bid, and the club just kept it all hush hush untill the last minute.

Nobodys interested on paying our price for him, I'm sure that'd change if he was on a free but hopefully you're right. Hopefully no clubs significantly bigger than us will go in for him

Suppose so, probably another "last minute deal" that they "couldnt turn down" in which they "didnt have time to find a replacement"

God the transfer window can be nerve racking, wish I could just fast forward to the first game of the season.

"According to sources, £11.5 million has near been agreed. Enrique ready to fly across to Anfield for medical. No idea how reliable the source is. What makes me laugh is that he is apparently waiting for a champions league club but...erm....Liverpool aren't in it Jose!!!!! Also the general consensus is that Liverpool fans are gutted if this is true. They want aly cissokho not Enrique. So again Jose, your moving to a club where they don't want you, and certainly won't sing your name!! Could prove to be a move that reinforces the age old phrase, "The grass is not always greener on the other side."

Very disappointed in the bloke. Don't say that you love the club and want to stay for the rest of your career, then piss on our backs and show that you want to **** off.

Things are obviously not that bad at the club for the players because Tiote has come out and said he wants to stay here over cheski. So it can't be that bad."

A guy has just posted this on another toon forum that I visit, I havent got a clue about whether its true or not but it makes interesting reading nonetheless.

Sell him during this window, but only for a decent price and in time to get a suitable replacement in. Getting the replacement being the most important, our defence was only just good enough last season and Enrique was a major factor in in our defensive strength. If we were to replace him with an inadequate LB I fear we would be weak down both flanks and it could cost us dear (I already consider Simmo to be our weak link in the first team).

Our new LB needs to be the best we can afford. I don't expect us to be able to get anybody as good as the Bull but we have to try and minimise the downgade in ability as much as possible and the money from selling him will help in this.

Defo agree with this. I think Simpson has to prove himself this season or he will be replaced next year. He backs off way too much and nearly in every match. It's as if Pardew hasn't told him about it and Simpson is oblivious to it. Also, I want Enrique to stay as he is just too valuable and we could really push on next year. I wouldn't blame him if he moved to a Champions League team as he would be leaving for the highest level of football. It wouldn't be that he hates playing for Newcastle in any way and if we keep him and he still really wants to go he will be trying to impress teams for when he becomes free next summer, so I think he will still perform at a very high level if he stays.

    Damn.

No option for "Burn him! Burn him good!!"

I'll have to go with option 1. Sell him for money... then burn him! Burn him good!!

If Jose does want to go to a CL club he'd have more options open to him next year. A lot of CL teams may not want to pay £7-9m for a player unproven at that level and with no international experience. If he was signed for say £8m on a 4 year deal at £50k p/w that's an investment of £18.4m - he's not going to go to Real, Barca, Man U, Inter etc so the CL teams that may sign him might be a little more cautious in where they invest their cash. More would take a serious look knowing his wages were the only outlay.
