It's really unbelievable how we yet again failed to sort the striker problem this window. We brought plenty of funds in and wasted it all on pointless signings like Odubajo (we didn't need a right back at all, and all he does is make Elmo worse). Instead of prioritising the striker situation we just got a cheap loan up front and blew all the money elsewhere.
This is exactly the point I made yesterday. It is perplexing to say the least. We have on paper a decent team, but sadly games aren't played on paper, on the pitch we look dreadful. Bruce was asked about Nolan, said we are no longer interested presumably because of Livermore returning? I'd make signing Nolan a priority - he is the gobshite we need in the centre of the pitch. I'd also sign one of the released centre forwards, not another one with zero experience. The most important positions on the pitch and we've failed to address the issues again.
The most important position off the pitch is the one that needs addressing as it is at the heart of 90% of our problems.
A good chairman will always fail without a good manager/coach; a good manager/coach can get by with a poor chairman (unless he with-holds transfer money - Ashley, Pardew and Newcastle are a classic case.) I'll let you come to your own conclusion.
for me you have strikers who compliment each other, one to win the headers hold the ball up, bring others into play and the other quick who plays off the first striker. If you dont have that then you must have hard working strikers ones that harras close defenders down and make many runs to create space, this is what Shane long was good at Huddlestone has never been the same player since he left, Vardy is another one he is a total nuisance to defences. Hopefully our strikers will come good they do need more help from the midfield however they have also got to help the midfield more themselves
Yep and we don't have either. Our strikers are all 'give me the ball in loads of space and I might score' types. Diomande sounds promising from what's said about him. We really need at least one more, at least until he's fit.
The only way to find out would be to play him up front and it won't happen, used to be common -place years ago Sterling, if somebody with the brain capacity of Peter Swan could do it then Harry can, us 80's throwbacks remember the likes of Paul Warhurst too
They should at least give young Harry a few games up top in the U21's to see if it could work, it'd be an interesting experiment.
Wilson is in the match day squad to play for Utd in Europe, he might be available for that massive 28 days before the recall kicks in, but don't expect a full 3 months to wherever he goes!
