Whether he stopped riding is not the issue. The issue is very simple. Did AA's careless riding and resultant interference result in BB losing more than the six inches he was beaten? The appeal will be interesting but will be fruitless. Good grief if this decision is overturned where does that leave the rule book!?
Anyhow,I'm parking this until the appeal. I think we're probably only going over old ground at this stage.
Unchanged Dex. The rule says there must be no doubt that the result was affected. Clearly there was some doubt in this case in that not everyone had the same view, including (it would seem) in the stewards' room. Based on that, the appeal should succeed. But I think the stewards have covered their tracks by suspending one jockey and not the other. For the appeal to succeed I reckon COD will have to be disciplined, or AA's suspension reversed. Could get messy.
Whichever of the two horses you were affiliated to you would feel hard done by if it were not the victor.
Dex probably thought you meant Charlie Drake Speaking of misunderstandings Blue - did you mean Golden Horn or Goldie Hawn? You can't have both! Personally I know which i'd rather ride
Not quite sure where your paranoia is leading you Blue. I will, however, indulge your prickliness one more time and ask what is your evidence for calling (CD) CO'D classless?... (walks on egg shells as he poses the question..)
It's not paranoia Dex, I just like to see who a man is, and by making clear you knew who I meant by CD yet posing the question in your reply you knew what you were doing, and you do know what that says about you, it's not about being over sensitive either as that is just how you are trying to deflect what you were doing because it's been named and you are likely not that comfortable with that happening . If you trace back your comments you are attempting within a good and sensible debate to goad me personally for no reason. I have no respect for you as a man Dex.
So now that we have dispensed with your personal insults and my credibilty as a man can we get back to your character assassination of Colm Donoghue...I dropped the "O" for you. ..."..lack of class..".still waiting for that clarification. When you're ready...no hurry..
I believe the stewards have made a mistake and have been influenced by CO'D in the stewards room. He was putting his point across strongly and showing a lack of class towards AA and his riding ability. My old man was shocked at how he reacted in that weighing room.
Personally, I thought it was an easy decision for the old boy stewards and had I been on the panel I would have concurred with the decision to ‘throw out’ The Simple Verse. Interference took place which cost the horse more than the distance he was beaten by at the line. Little option in my view but to shout ‘amended result’. Fantastic season in the UK classics for Mr O’Brien. As, I think, Meatloaf sang, ‘3 out of 5, ain’t bad’. I’ve never been in favour of televising either events in the ‘stewards room’ or the pilots changing area. Some areas of the racecourse should remain sacrosanct, don’t you know.
No reason why justice shouldn't be allowed to be seen Barn. As for the protest, the outside horse was not holding a straight line. It even shifted in behind the horse on the outside of the leader. With the slow mo, it looks as though that first clash may have had two bumps, the first by the horse laying in. If so, then the inside horse reacted and bounced out. Clearly, this occurred in the second coming together. The outside horse moved in quite a bit, hitting the inside animal. It reacted buy moving out. I'd have thrown out the protest...on it's ear.
One thing I would say is I wouldn't like to win a race on appeal, days or weeks afterwards. I think plenty were surprised by Graham Wylie not appealing the 2014 Gold Cup outcome. That, to me, shows the class of the man.
I'd take a Derby win on protest Beefy. But I'm a bit like Biff Grimes who once said. " Well, that's the kind of a hairpin I am. "
Appeal lodged and will be heard on Thursday. Those bookie chappies are betting on who will ‘win’ following this – 8/13 Bondi Beach, 6/5 The Simple Verse.
