fitness lost us that game. shame. if defoe had gone down when tugged it could have been a completely different story.

anyway, progress for sure. just needs fine tuning, but that needs working on pronto so we stay with the pack.

I'd say poor defending. PVA played him on and had the full view of the defencive line. No way he should have played him on. PVA has been a liability this season. Cost us there.

There were two players playing him on. To be fair, I think PVA is improving. He struggled to contain Townsend when he came on but that's always liable to happen when you bring on a fresh legged tricky winger with pace against a fullback who's already played 70 mins of football.

You sure about that? I just counted PVA. He had the whole view of the defensive line. Trying to find the goal from the right angle.

PVA is a progressing full back, he'll make those type of mistakes naturally and learn from them. What M'Vila did was far worse, Mason was his man in that phase of play and he just let him run away from him, it was pure laziness.

Much improved though from what I saw of the game.

Think M'Vila was dead on his feet fella. It's no secret that he, Ola, Borini and Gomez have had no preseason at all and are all chasing fitness, was a risk playing them all knowing they'd run out of steam and only three subs. Cost us towards the end, we were ****ed.

M'vila was magnificent until he ran out of steam

90% sure mate. They showed a replay on Sky with the line drawn and there was PVA near side and someone else in the middle (not sure who)

I wouldn't be too hard on anyone. It was a very good team goal which we lacked the fitness and experience to stop happening.

If we repeat that first half a bit more we'll be bringing a lot of points in.

Spurs looked rattled early but settled into the game and found a bit of quality to get the win.

Disappointed to get nothing but it was beyond encouraging after the **** we've served up recently.

I was going to post just that but you put it perfectly.

I'm gutted about the result but so pleased with the improvements since the first 2 games.

I still think we'll be fine but we need that first win soon, and there are some tough games coming up.

I agree. I thought M'vila was running the game towards the end of the first half. Gomez had a great return too. We more than matched them for 75 minutes. Their subs were better than ours. Plenty of positives from that. Just gutted that it may knock confidence.

Very unlucky. Should have had a penalty and Mason went studs up on Borini which is a red card offence......he wasn't even booked, then went on to score

Think they'll be encouraged by the support which sounded fantastic today. Hopefully they're feeling confident off the back of a good performance.

Excellent first half, poor second as we ran out of steam all over the park and the subs were poor and introduced too late, allowing Spurs back into the game. Our counter attacking was sublime and I can see us getting an away win sooner rather than later. It will take us until Xmas to make up for this bad start but things are moving in the right direction, a draw today would have been a fair result.

Doesn't stop it being a foul! But he missed a sitter as well. 1v1 to not make the keeper save it is poor IMO!! But it was a very good and promising performance. Toivonen was a miss when he went off. Be great when we get everyone to full fitness. Playing like that we'll have no problems this season. There was a lot of good things about today. They should've been down to ten men as the challenge from vertonghen was shocking! The one on borini as well! Ref was awful but thought we played well

Should've had a penalty. Spurs scorer should've been sent off. Vertonghen should've been sent off.
    Lots to be positive about.
