Very early days but I think Ballydoyle should win either the 1000 Gns (8/1) or Oaks (14/1), maybe both. Always have to trust that they train on but if she does she could be a very short price come the day so could be worth the risk. 2 points win on each and 1 point the double

I think Emotionless may be a lot shorter than 20-1 after todays race Ron. I am not one for taking long range ante post bets but as I have a little in the account at present I have just had a small bet at 20's.

Those two are without doubt the talking horses and certainly the Godolphin runner could shorten after today.

Have they named one Coolmore as well over in Ireland? Could be another potentially smart one!

It surely won't be long until Sea The Stars sires a Derby winner so I wonder if there are some horses who will come into their own next year upped in trip?

Coolmore runs in the opener at Leopardstown today Toppy.

Betting on next years classics at this stage is about the barmiest thing I can think of (feel free to prove me wrong in June 2016 Ron <laugh>)

Everything's relative, Oddy, but talking of degrees of barminess, check out Mr. Happy's Vacuum on the Darwin Awards website.

The betting on next year’s Classics has changed radically in the last twenty years. It used to be pretty simple: watch the key late season two year old races and back the winners; e.g. the Cheveley Park Stakes winner should be backed for the 1000 Guineas.

Training trends have changed so now the old theories do not hold true. For example, last year’s Prix Marcel Boussac winner Found looked like an Oaks filly, so I backed her ante-post. Her trainer then decided to skip the 1000 Guineas in favour of a lesser race the following day (where she was beaten on heavy ground) and then pulled her from The Oaks losing my bet. If Found wins the Arc, he will be telling everyone to ‘listen’ but in reality it is more likely that he has screwed up big time because of his arrogance. Her stud value was secured with her Group 1 win as a two year old and her sole victory this term was a three-runner Group 3.

Nowadays, I wait until the end of the British flat season before dabbling in the ante-post market so that I can assess all the form from all the races before getting involved, even if this means getting shorter odds. Bad news for the bookies as twenty years ago I would be holding tickets for both Guineas, The Derby and The Oaks by Christmas and two or three would not even make it to post whereas now I might only have one or two tickets at the end of March.

I’ve seen a lot worse quotes than the 33/1 currently available re next terms ‘Oaks’ about Mr Bolger's Turret Rocks. Thought she did it very nicely in yesterday’s ‘Group 2’ at Donny, over a trip which must be her bare minimum, and over further, next season, I think she will excel.

Agreed Barney. It was her that led me to Ballymore.

The last time I had a long range ante post bet on the classics was so long ago I've forgotten what it was. But I do know I had an accumulator on the 1000, 2000, Derby and Oaks with just one filly and one colt and after querying my slip WH were kind enough to give me the full single odds for each race. Needless to say neither ran

Emotionless in to 8's now from 20's last night, happy with that but when he wins the Dewhurst he will be even shorter.

12/1 was available straight after the race Blue. My advice for what it's worth was to snap up the 12s and lay it off later for a guaranteed profit (reason in the daily thread)

Well done for getting the 20s beforehand

Wouldn't write her off on good/firm ground myself now. Storm Cats don't go too well on soft ground.

I wonder whether there was something "Frankel-esque" about the naming of Ballydoyle and Coolmore, or whether they were just running out of ideas for names? It is well known that the lads at Juddmonte looked long and hard for a horse to carry the name of the late, great Bobby Frankel, and boy did they make the correct choice. Have "the lads" tried to tempt providence by burdening these 2 with such legacy-laden names, or is it just pure coincidence? Were these 2 chosen from dozens to try and cement the Ballydoyle / Coolmore legacy, or were the names just, quite simply, the next ones on the list? Either way, neither of them is a Frankel.

The Dewhurst could be a corker, Air Force Blue is on course for it too, doubt Emotionless will get it easy if they do meet, AFB is improving every week and will be a monster next season and likewise Emotionless look's top drawer too. Really hope they line up on suitable ground for the Dewhurst and regardless of who wins that, great horses to look forward to in 2016 <ok>

I agree they both look top class, I would still favour emotionless however as he just has that look of something special. We obviously don't want to be stupid and use the F word at such an early stage but he does travel well and picks up so all we need is a prolonged finish and he could look a prospect. What gives rise to such silly talk on my behalf is the sheer confidence behind the horse, when making his debut it was as if everyone knew he couldn't be beat, and Buick rode him as though he had 3 stone in hand and knew it, it's clear we have not seen him in full stride but it's also clear thise closest feel to him feel he will be pretty impressive when he hits it.

Agree Humans..they look a couple of colts from the very top drawer.

Aside from the obvious,I was very taken with Ebediyin last week at Galway in his maiden win..a performance smoked with class and much more to come.

In the right hands,in imeo, with the best trainer since the only trainer MVO'B.

A couple of Melbourne Cups,a leg of the American Triple Crown, numerous English and Irish Classics,Cheltenham Festival winners and Galway Plates to boot.

Most underrated guy currently in the business..and one of the nicest.
