    Apparently it is now being reported that the father who lost his wife and two children when a refugee boat sank was actually driving the boat and is himself a people smuggler. Reports follow an interview with one of the survivors on Aussie tv. He has also returned to Syria to bury his family...how can you do that if you are supposed to be on the run from ISIS/Syrian government. He was also in Turkey for 3 years before trying to get to Germany so he could then move to live with his sister in Canada.

    It all sounds very confusing and not what was originally reported. Not that I would wish losing a wife and two children on anybody. I suspect the true story will never be established

    Not sure if I've posted this already but imagine Nazi Germany and the number of jews and Europeans fleeing the threat from Nazi Germany. Think about those who smuggled them out and the amounts those very same jews/europeans had to pay to get safe passage. Was anyone calling them criminals? Was anyone saying that this was "people smuggling" like it was a dirty thing like it's being portrayed today?

    It's ALL about perception and people's personal prejudices that the media and western governments play upon. White people from Europe ok, dirty thieving arabs not ok. It's precisely because of what happened in 1930's/40's Germany that Human Rights and in particular the rights of refugees was highlighted, and why it applies as much today as it did then.
