Bolted up on debut and looked a potential top class performer. Lots of winners have come out of this race and I will be amazed if this horse doesn't win tomorrow before going on to take group 1 honours. Charlie Appleby has a 22% strike rate with his juveniles this season but only 2 first time out winners so I would also expect some improvement. 11/10 available with PP

    3.45 Doncaster - STORM THE STARS - 2/1

I must start off by saying I backed him a couple of weeks ago at 7/2 <laugh>Altho he is a bit short how BOndi Beach is favourite with some places is beyond me running off level terms nothing jumps out why an how he will reverse the form especially as the step up in trip will suit and IMO improve STS. He beat him fair and square at York! Some may say he has had a busy campaign but this is and has his goal all year! Kingston hill had the same and won this! STS has rock solid form the best by far in the field and altho some of these have more room for improvement they will have to beat him where as STS won't need to run well but as previously stated the step will bring out some natural improvement, he won't mind what ever ground he's had a small break since his run and u feel he will improve again for his run at York so I felt from Haggas interview that day he's a tough horse as showed at York so to the field if they get in to battle at the finish which I reckon will happen do so with caution coz they won't beat him !!

Sanus per Aquam and Golden Horn in a double both at leopardstown tomorrow. Double pays about 9/1.

I don't say you're wrong,Wooly, and your 7/2 looks big now. But some would say that there are perfectly good reasons for Bondi Beach being favourite, or nearly so:

    * the O'Brien record in the race
    * the fact that it was a very close-run Voltigeur, and many people thought the placings might have been reversed
    * despite what you say, Storm the Stars isn't obviously bred for 14f and, if I heard Haggas correctly earlier this week, he was by no means certain that he would stay
    * in a small field, tactics could be crucial, and the presence of the second O'Brien runner looks significant. You'd expect Fields of Athenry to make the running, thus killing my joke about him lying low. and then make it difficult for STS to get a clear run (that's the non-libellous wording). Cosgrave is by no means a mug jockey, but he'll have two good ones working in tandem against him.

It does have all the signs of being a match, but maybe a bit of a third-place playoff - the two principals look to be something like 9/10 lb behind Golden Horn and Jack Hobbs. I'd rather watch than bet, but I hope STS wins for you.

Cougar Mountain @ 6/1 looks a big price, his 3rd behind Solow looks very good and any run up to that as long as the rain stays away will run very well

With that in mind have just had a small each way CIRRUS DES AIGLES - 12/1 any amount of rain will enhance his chances and has the class at the very least to get placed

    Three cracking bets tomorrow.

    Doncaster
    2.00 Emotionless 5-6

If ever an odds on shot can represent value it's this bet. This is the best two year old in the country in my opinion and will win this without being seriously asked.

    Lingfield
    4.45 Saraha 13-8

This horse is racing off 67 and against mostly exposed horses this horse will be found in excess of 80's easily in my opinion which means it is very well in at present.

    Bath
    5.05 Et Toi 6-4

Didn't like the soft ground before and will take the beating in this race.

SIMPLE VERSE has looked a standout bet for me all week. Don't think a drop of rain will hurt her chances based on a Duke Of Marmalade/Sadlers Wells mare pedigree, and stamina should bring out the best of her. It looks a substandard St Leger and she is firmly on the upgrade.

At a price, look out for the first time hooded MEDRANO, who ought to relish the trip and a positive effect of the hood could lead to double improvement. It is a Leger that has that sort of feel to it!

My old favourite Alton Bay runs in the 4.40 at Leopardstown, can't help thinking he might be worth an e/w dabble at around 28/1. Mind you, this Renneti of Willie Mullins looks very interesting too, some smart hurdles form to his name.

Morning, you types. Hope everyone well. It’s not often that I tip one of Godolphin’s but I will today, don’t you know, ‘ooooooooooooooop’ at Chester.

SECRET NUMBER (2.50 Chester) – I really can’t believe that those bookie chappies were shouting 3/1 re this one earlier this morn as, no offence to his opponents, the old boy is running against has-beens, horses badly out of form and handicappers. He does have a 371 day absence to overcome but he has a history of winning when fresh and if retaining a modicum of his old form should really be far, far, far too good today. Don’t forget this is an animal beaten just 3 lengths in a decent ‘St Leger’, got within 2 lengths of Telescope and on his penultimate outing won a Group 3 with ridiculous ease. Furthermore, the barn is in very good form with 8 winners already this month. He really should win and win well.

Meanwhile, Jez Corbyn now into 1/25 to oblige. Oh happy days!

    Good luck all.

Lester Piggott reckons that his son-in-law’s horse Storm The Stars will be “hard to beat” in the St Leger. Clearly he has serious dementia.

Storm The Stars should not have kept the Great Voltigeur Stakes as hanging across the track he clearly impeded runner-up Bondi Beach, who will get his revenge in the St Leger. Storm The Stars was very well regarded back in April when he was beaten in an ordinary maiden at Newmarket and he has been on the go all season including wide margin defeats in two Derbies and the Grand Prix de Paris. He was coming to the end of his tether after twelve furlongs at York so I would not have a penny on him over two furlongs further. The Ballydoyle colt is a known stayer and only has four races on the clock.

Over at Leopardstown, I think that Legatissimo at virtually even money has to be the worst bet of the day. Amazing Maria has been winning Group 1 races in sequence and improving with every appearance so I think that she can account for the three year old.

If Golden Horn does head for the post, he has the best collateral form in the Irish Champion Stakes and I expect him to win.

Definitely a class above and should win. My only worry is that he is a fragile horse and we are really trusting the trainer that he is ready to do himself justice. If I were to back anything in the race though it would be this one

In the opener at Donny, the rank outsider at 100-1 is Lax Talionis. He was tailed off making his début in an Irish group 2 , but surely he must be fairly highly regarded to pitch him in at that level?

    I'm just saying .....!
