After the international break, I am really looking forward to our next league match, which is also our first match since the closure of the transfer window. I am intrigued on who will take the field on Saturday against Nottingham Forest, and indeed "what is now our best starting eleven"?

I am sure that nobody yet really knows the answer to this question, but after some thought I would go for something like this:

    ------------------------------- Green ----------------------------
----- Perch --------Onuoha -----Angella ------- Yun-----
    ------------------- Tozer -------------Luongo ---------------
    ---------Phillips ------------- Fer ------------- ---Chery ------
    ------------------------------ Austin ------------------------------

My big dilemma was Faurlin or Tozer, whether to include Sandro or not, and where to play Luongo?

But there are many very interesting permutations. Not included in my team are: Hall, Konchesky, Doughty, Henry, Mackie, Gladwin, JET and Polter, etc

It will be very interesting to see who starts this Saturday…and do you change a winning team?
It is really a very nice problem to have.

That is an excellent team, but I can't see CR making any changes from the team that beat Huddersfield.
In a few weeks time we will probably see Angella, Tozser and Fer getting regular starts.
My optimism is on an all time high, just now!

Looking forward to seeing the 2 Watford incomings play. Agree with Totally, the team - in fact, the whole squad - looks pretty strong. Vital, early in a long and tough season.

I am also very optimisitic at present and that is why I am "slightly" worried.
Often such feelings come crushing down with a typical QPR "suprise".

    But let's enjoy the show!

I'd have Faurlin for Luongo and Luongo for Fer.

If we were playing a play off final everyone was fully fit and I was picking my first 11 it would be

    ---------------Green-----------------

    Perch---Onouha---Angella----Yun

    -------------Sandro—Faurlin-------

    Philips-----------Fer----------Chery

    ------------------Austin---------------

But Sandro will only be fit enough for the bench on Sat and obviously no Fer so Luongo in there. Really do like Luongo but haven’t been impressed with him when he’s played deeper so when Fer is back I think he is in a straight competition with Fer for that role further forward.

    Can see the team as

    ---------------Green-----------------

    Perch---Onouha---Angella----Konchesky

    -------------Toszer—Faurlin-------

    Philips-----------Luongo---------Chery

    ------------------Austin---------------

Yun not up to speed and Konchesky has done nothing wrong
The front 4 pick themselves as Fer is not up to speed either.

That be my team....with ......Smithies Fer Sandro (or Henry) JET Yun Polter on the bench
    Looks strong on paper

Everyone has accepted that we will/should play a 4-2-3-1 formation. Anyone disagree that this is the way to go?

He had a good singing voice, but was a right dick-head and a womanizer.

I agree with Konchesky for Yun. Experienced, strong and possibly as fast as Yun. What's not to like?

I think it will be the same side that started v Rotherham and Wolves with maybe one change. I'd be surprised if it's any more than that.

I just don't see what the big deal with faulin is ? Every game I've watched he's just been average a lot of sideways stuff and muscled off the ball easily . Yes he looks composed and has some neat touches , but I've never really seen consistent end product ?

I think that you raise a very good point. From various interviews I have an impression that Chris Ramseys' "preferred" style of play is actually 4-3-3. However, I don't think he has outrightly played it to date, possibly due to the lack of the "correct players". Now that he made a substantial number of acquisitions, and has in effect has ovehauled the squad, it will be very interesting to see if this will now be the prefered style of play.

I personally think that 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 are very flexible and fluid formations, which are interchageable depending if the team is in offensive or defensive mode. The common factor is that they have one central striker. I attach below my original "ideal team" in a 4-3-3 formation, which for me seems to work on paper:

    ------------------------------- Green ----------------------------
----- Perch --------Onuoha -----Angella ------- Yun-----
    -------------- Tozer ----------Fer-----------Luongo ---------
    ------Phillips ---------------Austin----------------Chery ----

I am very interested to see if CR will have a Plan B (or Plan C) of a 4-4-2 formation and a strike partnership of Austin and Polter (or possibly JET?), thus try to recreate the successful and fruitful partnership of Austin and OBZ. In theory, this is (was) Charlie's most effective position.

Anyway, it is great to have real choice and options for both:
=> back up and competition for places
    => options of various formations

I think that last season showed that our players can't cope with changes in formation. Perhaps the new blood is brighter and more dedicated. Possibly with Onuoha, Hall and Angella as CBs and Furlong and Yun as wing backs we actually have the players to try 3-5-2 now, but I doubt we will see it if Clint Hill is in shop steward mode. Of course the better and faster the players are the more fluid the formation can be.

What is your definition of consistent end product for a holding midfielder?

It's no co-incidence that Faurlin has started 3 games and we've won those 3 games.

He gets the temp going. He doesn't just do side ways passing. If you don't know that then you don't go to games. Think the 3 50\60 yard balls he did inch perfectly for Phillips against Rotheram or in the one of the few highlights against Huddersfield when Phillips flashes it across goal and they nearly score an own goal he was teed up by Faurlin with a swift one touch pass on a ball that came at him quickly (Huddersfield own youtube highlights show this ours were too short). Likes of Henry in that position take a touch and chance is gone and they probably lose the ball.
