I wondered why Rico had been missing in Jools' recent performances. Brid Spa and Castle Howard. A big loss.
I knew he'd done nothing at Man Utd despite being talented, but I didn't know the whole story of his decline: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...tragic-demise-iconic-legacy-live-forever.html
We've some sad news to share with you this morning. Beryl Renwick, the former BBC Radio Humberside presenter, has died. She was 89. Beryl found fame as one half of the presenting team Beryl and Betty, delighting Radio Humberside audiences for more than six years alongside her on-air partner, Betty Smith. Sadly, Betty died last November. With their producer and co-presenter David Reeves, they made industry history in 2012 by winning the radio equivalent of an Oscar, beating household names including Frank Skinner to scoop the UK Radio Academy Gold Award for Best Entertainment programme. David first spotted their potential when he overheard them talking during a tour of the BBC buildings in Hull. Our thoughts are with Beryl's family and friends.

Hardest bloke in cricket? In a game between Gloucestershire and Yorkshire, Martin Young was caught at slip by Phil Sharpe after it ricocheted off Brian Close’s forehead. Close was at short-leg, and as he was hit, he shouted, “Catch it!” When his team-mates enquired what would have happened had it hit him a little lower, Close said, “H’d have been caught in t’gully.”.
R.I.P. Brian Close A true sporting and cricket legend. FACT. Faced proper fast bowlers with no headwear back in the day. FEARLESS. Thanks for all the great memories Brian. Yorkshire did it again just before you passed away. Another title. A sad day indeed today.
"You know the cricket season has arrived when you hear the sound of leather on Brian Close" - Eric Morecambe
Was at Wembley to see him play in the 1966 FA Cup Final for Sheffield Wednesday against Everton. In that match Wednesday became the first team to lose an FA Cup Final after leading 2-0. 48 years later Hull City became the 2nd , both matches ending with the same score. RIP Ron.
RIP, Brian Close he faced the brutal West Indies fast bowling attack and defended the his wicket by letting the ball hit him, was black and blue with bruises, but never flinched once, a true hard man from Yorkshire.
His attitude was "how can a cricket ball hurt you? it's in contact for less than a second". It wasn't just his courage, he was a fine batsman, bowler, fielder and captain. Unjustly sacked as England captain, the record when he was in charge was Played 7, Won 6, Drawn 1. Also played professional football for Leeds, Arsenal and Bradford City. Got sacked by Arsenal when he tried to play cricket for Yorkshire and football for Arsenal on the same day and arrived late for the latter.
Brought back at 45 to put some steel into the team and then that idiot Gregg said he wanted to make them grovel. BC meet Whispering Death. RIP
Sad news about the passing for Brian Close a truly great Cricketer and real all round sports man. He also played golf and had a handicap of 2 left handed and 4 right handed. RIP.
