With the England game, it probably wasn't surprising but I was more impressed after Hodgson took off Milner, Rooney and The Ox
The whole play sped up and Kane's movement gave the midfield more options
Thought Shelvey was by far the most effective player and Milner the most ineffective

    That's a worry.

We don't want them to sack their boss.

Wales have the second bottom team next and then Andorra at home. They need one point. Have Andorra ever won a game?

Why all the build up? They've qualified FFS!

Was listening to the Radio 5L commentary with John Hartson and Robbie Savage providing cover. Have to say that with all the crowd noise as well, that was one of the most exciting commentaries I've heard in a long while.

I would love Turkey to qualify. For years they have underachieved. I can imagine there are games of football being played on every street corner in all the major cities and towns in that country. By contrast, the game has been anaesthetized in many of the major European countries and is played in "surgeries" where it is all down to coaching. Maybe that is what has happened with the Dutch game? Too much coaching from an early age. England do not have anyone with the imagination, talent, or creativity of the greats of yesteryear and I attribute this to what has happened.

Here in Mallorca the game is still played in the barrios in parks and in the school yard, and this is where players learn to be creative and skilful and then harnessed in the academies of the clubs the length and breadth of the Iberian Peninsula.

Mmm fair points. Not sure why you replied to my post and what that's got to do with Netherlands sacking their manager .... And then thinking about who they'd want next????

I know exactly why you posted, but there is no point fretting! If it happens it happens although it would be great to keep a manager who has taken us and looks more than capable of keeping us in the upper half of the Premiership for a four or five years. I was just deflecting your concerns.

You confuse them... I'll give you that :)

I'm not really fretting, just pointing out what may happen next.

It's a case of the Blind playing the Blind (in defence) I'm afraid ...............................

Italy still leading 1-0 after De Rossi's first half penalty, but it's 10 v 10 now. De Rossi and Micanski both given straight reds following an ugly foul and retaliation.

    Italy 1 Bulgaria 0. That'll do.

On the subject of the passionate commentary during the Wales match on R5L earlier:

Wish I'd listened to the first half too. :)

That'll do? England can be destroyed for being rubbish, but the Italy "that'll do"
My ku didn't see any of that did you TSS, or listen to it. Howling Italiams bemoaning the shocking football played by their team. It wasn't good. It was almost like watching England :)

I certainly think there are several thousand Italians who don't think that'll do at all. I didn't watch much of it, but enough. Oh and in the time I did watch Pelle did an aimless and unnecessary back heel ... Straight to a defender :(

Italy have gone downhill alarmingly fast. It's ludicrous to think Pelle is their first choice striker. Pelle's a good player but when past strikers have included Alessandro Del Piero, Francesco Totti and Christian Vieri amongst others others he's nowhere near the same league. What the **** has happened to them? Where's the new Del Piero? Buffon hasn't got long left either and he's the last of Italy's golden generation. He must be shaking his head in disbelief at what he's now got in front of him.

Exactly. I think it was nailed earlier on - football in much of Europe has become too technical, some coaching has taken the pure talent out of players ..... Where are the truly spectacular players now? Lionel Messinsets Europe alight, but he's not European. Where are the Del Pieros, Platinis, etc? And England have no one .....
