"He also said the club had informed the Spain international of their desire to sign him as a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas, who was sold to Porto earlier in the summer"

If that's the kind of "experience" he thinks we need then he can keep it.

Tho' at least he's not naive enough to have pictures of him meeting De Gea in a restaurant...

I heard this, this morning. Is it election time already?

Perez is a complete **** and we all know this. This is a guy who's "experience" taught him to dismantle the core of a great Real Madrid side and fill it full of expensive "galacticos" prima donnas who wouldnt run 10 yards to collect the ball, and became a generation of virtual flops. He is cancerous as far as football is concerned.

I'm only sorry that he has far more in common with Woodward than he actually thinks... or that I would like.

I thought United's response was very funny.

Who was running Chelsea's campaign to sign a new centre half? Ed Miliband?

If Perez is telling the truth then this statement says it all

"At 13.30 [on Monday] Manchester United had all the papers but they took eight hours to return them

That means Madrid had the papers back at 21.30 all signed and ready to file. What did they do with them for the next 30 minutes?

Is 30 mins a long time to process them? Versus eight hours?

90 minutes and it's been widely reported that once the deal had been agreed it should take 10 minutes to register it. The Spanish like to eat late so the Real Madrid lawyers were probably face down in a paella.

    Shame!

What a strange question, is 30 mins a long time versus eight hours, of course not.
30 mins is a very long time compared to the time it takes to file a completed transfer though <ok>

Even Real Madrid's fans are embarrassed by him and the way Real have acted throughout.

    So that's a firm no.

The Spanish do eat late. That's widely known. Perhaps not in Alf's Traditional English Pub Benidorm where you probably holiday with your Paris Metro pals!

Spot on. Also why football is played in the evenings mostly. All fits into the culture. When I've been over thee the matches are on at 8 in the evening and ppl start turning up in the restaurants to watch and eat. Waiters cant wait to talk football as well.

    More stereotyping.

Do you serve your Asian pals curry for dinner when they come over to make them feel at home?

And a paella for your Spanish pals, after midnight of course!!
