I'm not going to get involved with this discussion. I would however like to point out that these people are REFUGEES, not migrants, and certainly not illegal immigrants, a phrase that seems to crop up regularly in the redtops.

The alliance we are part of caused this by bombing the shyte out of Syria, meaning the poor old innocent population were taking a hiding from ISIS and from us. Nowere in Syria is safe.

I sometimes shake my head in despair when I think of what it would have been like if it was Cameron who was PM during the war instead of Churchill. Apart from failing to equip an army up to the task, he'd probably have told the Poles, Czechs etc. to bugger off. Yes, the same ones who helped us win the Battle of Britain, and the war effort in general. These people were refugees too, fleeing a war to save the lives of them and their families.

Look at the pictures of the little kids washed up on the beaches and tell me that their 'illegal migrant' parents think the benefits are worth that kind of sacrifice.

Incidentally, if you actually took some time to listen to the refugees speak, you'll see that they are not interested in benefits at all, just saving their families. And a significant proportion of them are highly skilled pofessionals, who would shudder at the prospect of handouts.

I'm not asking you all to change your mind. I'm simply asking you to refrain from saying things that even the National Front cannot bring themselves to say. Just imagine your son/daughter/mother/father/sister/brother had just spent every last penny they had fleeing Syria. Would you still think the same?

I'm now out of this discussion.

As an economic migrant yourself I can understand why you would favour a relaxed approach.

The Poles and Czechs were European though Jock. WTF have middle eastern REFUGEES got to do with Europe. The pics of the kids were terrible, but so are the beheading of people by isis. I wouldn't venture into my own city because of the pick pocketing, knife carrying ****s. IMO Jock you can't compare what happened in the past with what is happening now. But I respect your opinion..<ok>
