    Some of them are more bothered about beating us than achieving glory, pretty sad.

    Just to let you know that stellios is the new user name for a, ashamed to say, Sunderland supporter who was banned from the forum yesterday. He could not understand why but I think this post may give you all a clue.

    You cant justify signing reserve players from manchester united, two of birminghams main midfielders who got them relegated last season, a 18 year old stiker with a strike rate of a goal every 5 games in Englands second tier and a korean player from a league thats barely heard of outside of its own country.
    Lets be serious here, sunderland havent really signed anyone whos going to change a game, the only half decent players are brown and o'shea other than that they are all unproven at premier league level.

    As a level headed Sunderland fan I'm going to agree that the signings Bruce has made havnt exactly made me jump out of my seat but the likes of brown and o shea are solid, you can't really say Gardner is unproven scoring 8 goals from midfield last season and Larson has been at arsenal and had played in the epl for a number of seasons now, I think sunderland need two more players a striker big name and a winger then we will be a real force, as for Newcastle the French lads are decent signings, but I think you need a few more players to survive this season!

    This I agree with, we need squad depth (another good striker and a LB minimum), and SAFC need an influential midfielder (like Zog).

    Westwood = Average (don't know if he's Gordon's replacement or what, but solid 2nd choice, average to poor 1st)
    Brown = ****, absolute toss
    O'Shea = Good biz, solid, versatile and will stand out more in a lesser team
    Gardner = Decent. I'd definitely have him for competition
    Larsson = See Brown
    Wickham = Unproven, overrated but could be worth the money if he comes good

    Yer you should be ok but wouldn't get to carried away with a top 10 finsh, ok you nearly done it last year but I think losing Nolan is a bigger loss than people think he's always likely to sniff out a goal, and a good player in the dressing room to have around.

    Except he only scored 2 goals after Carroll left, so it's not that likely

    Sir bobby, you have just contradicted yourself how can you say wickham is overated but could be worth the Money if he comes good!? Ok he's a risk and yes he is unproven but he's a big strong lad and only 18! I think he is definatly 1 for the future

    i admit i wouldnt of minded if he came to newcastle, but nowhere good enough for a 1st team place, i mean hes averaged 1 goal every 5 games in the championship, which is nothing to brag about if your main role is a striker. and he scored a hat trick so if you take away one good game, thats 10 goals in 60 odd appearances!

    Lots of teams were watching him, you are just the team to take the gamble, even if he does come good you wont be able to keep him, one of the top teams will snap him up, same thing with carroll.

    As they were seeing if he was good enough to actually bid for... turns out all the half decent teams thought no he wasn't.

    Yer he already has in his contract that if after a year the top teams want him, that there allowed to talk to him, we will just be a stepping stone for him!
