We don't say Barm here. We usually say "I'll have a Sarnie" As mentioned by Lammy, the sarnie would be made from a breadcake. Back in the day lad, we used to say Bacon banjo (f**k knows what that was all about)
During our darker days at BP, I remember Brighton fans being fantastic in helping out with support and advice on dealing with the back room problems. Am I right in thinking the nickname 'seagulls' originated as a piss take against Palace? Anyone that doesn't like Palace shows taste in my view. Palace have always been a side that abuse 'gamesmanship' and then they get those prats with drums. ...
Without getting into the whole Palace thing you are right, we used Seagulls against Eagles, we were the Dolphins before that era of Clough/Taylor/Mullery.
Dolphins? I was trying to rack my brain for what your nickname was before 'seagulls'. I wouldn't have got that.
Whatever happened to Ken Beamish ? Is he still alive ? Always gave Hull City problems back in the day. I liked the Goldstone Ground. But your new place is very good.
Great player, that is taking my memory to the extreme however. I started watching Brighton in 1973. Goldstone and Boothferry were very similar, 20/30s design. Big terraces on one side. Both had, and have, a great support base. We always got the best average gates (you and us). Opposite ends of the compass but football mad city's. Part of why I like Hull, and the girly I once had, and having nights out, etc... lifes rich tapestry.
Know what you mean. I will ask about Ken Beamish when I come down next week. He was a thorn in our side for sure. Wikipedia says that he managed Swindon Town after his playing days and then worked for Blackburn Rovers as commercial manager between 1986 and 2012 when he retired. Assume he is still with us then. ?
