The only explaination is waiting for our targets this summer to become more viable in the next windows.
Didn't Danilo sign for Madrid towards the very start of the window or was that someone else? Llorente is a striker, probably the last type of player we need. We needed a centre mid and after what has happened today it looks like we haven't even looked at one.
When you look at our buying history ,a large part is simply turning over funds by getting kids "cheap" then selling on for profit with no intention of ever playing them. Thats OK to a point especially since very few have gone on to greatness. Buying for the 1st team has been a bigger problem with a fair percentage being duds or us selling on the wrong players. We Have also failed to bring a single player through our academy to regular 1st team status. You could be forgiven for starting to think great players either don't want to come here, or price themselves out due to our reputation. Either way we have a big problem now, unless Jose can get our underrperformers back into form.even then it would be short term. Our "long term" plan of only needing a couple of new faces each season is already in tatters. Looks to me as if we need a complete rethink, a significant change of personnel on and off the pitch, otherwise we will be in the same position next season.
I suppose would could have blown our wad of cash on the next yaya sanogo. Wilson already is better than your new guy. Back in topic bit underwhelming but lets just hope jose was playing games and now plays a proper team
Whilst I am not enamoured with the price tag of our new signing, out of interest what do you base that statement on?
Think I'd have read something about it... What I don't get is why Chelsea don't try out Ake etc? And whatever happened to Kalas? Gone permanently?
Well yeh... what I don't understand is how he or Chelsea think it's the right way to do things. Guess it's part of the reason things often end badly for him.
It's a big part of the reason why he never lasts long at a club. Roman has quite possibly and even more understandably asked Jose why he is having to invest in new players when the Chelsea youth team has been so successful but failed to produce a first teamer for over a decade. Because I'm the Special One!
I really don't see the point in buying unproven, inexperienced back ups when we have plenty of quality young defenders at the club like Kalas, Christenson and Omeruo. As City have shown this window and we did last summer, buy players to get in the first 11. That's the only way to improve. Pedro was a good signing but that aside, I'm struggling to get excited about our business this summer. Hoping Nathan can be a hidden gem but just don't see him playing much.
I'm more concern about how Jose destroyed team morale with an incredible piece of petulance worsened by stubbornness. The transfers can go either way, even a top target signing can be a damp squib as we all know (where is Di Maria again?), both the new centre backs have recent form to justify a step up. No, Chelsea is wobbling on the inside from the top down. You need stick and carrot and Jose used the stick on one of the props holding up the roof, and with dust still in his hair he said don't worry about the snow coming in we didn't need a roof anyway. Yes Jose needs some man management way before we needs to worry about new signings.
Seems you're crying out for some freshness, desire at the moment... surely bringing a young, hungry player in for a few games would add that. Could positively impact everyone.
This I do agree with. We obviously spent a fair few weeks trying to find a centre back and we failed. So why didn't we put a release clause on one of Christensen, Kalas or Ake and bring them in instead of spending a couple of million on some unproven guy from France. It's probably more recent that we've looked for a centre back because of our form but Ake only went last week I think. Left sided aswell, same as the guy we signed from Nantes....baffling.
