This can't really go wrong for us, if you look at it logically: either he does well and comes back to make a contribution as a Liverpool player/ gets sold for a decent amount OR he does not do anything and then it's not Liverpool's performances he's ballsed up.

We have to remember this guy's about a year and a bit older than Ibe - always was one for the future: he's clearly got the talent, needs more time to turn it into end product, and Turkey is not the worst place to do that.

He could flop on loan too. Then we can't sell him and it turns out another million score wasted.

    Hope not, but could happen.

Talksport saying Watford are looking to hijack the loan deal to Fenerbace.

Where would you prefer to see him play:

Watford - Should be playing week in/week out and in the premier league
Fenerbace - playing in European competition and training and learning daily off of some quality players even if they are at Fenerbace to end their careers.

Rather see him at Watford to be honest.

But if he flops there, presumably he'd flop here too, in which case surely it's better he flops in someone else's team.

Would be nice if he stayed in the Prem, just as it's easier to keep tabs on his development

This just doesn't make sense on many levels.

For 20mill (even a kid) you'd expect them to be involved in the first team. If they're not, either the manager didn't want him so won't play him, the lad isn't actually worth 20mill player and isn't good enough, or we massively overspent on talent without a solid forward plan of how to develop him in the first team.

If he's not seen as good enough, then why? His appearances so far have been pretty poor. Why? Not played in his position, not given many opportunities and when he was they were short 15m cameos or one start without a second consecutive one. Hard to get any decent form going like that. Rodgers fault through mismanagement then? Probably.

If we massively overspent on talent for the future without a clear plan of how to develop him - and I think we did - then did we buy him too soon? Probably. He needs to be playing. Rodgers doesn't really trust certain players and doesn't play them so they never grow as a player and their confidence must get shattered. If he's so talented (as many people claim) then best thing would have been to buy him and loan him straight back to Benfica to continue playing for a season. Further, why invest so heavily on talent and then continue to overload the position with players? We have so many forwards and yet our best formation only includes 3 at the most - one of which is a nailed on starter in Coutinho. Benteke, Sturridge, Ings, Origi, Lallana, Ibe, Markovic, Firmino and god knows who else all vying for 2 spots is silly. Still got Borini and Balotelli on our books too for now. That to me says that Rodgers doesn't know what his style/formation should be so he just buys to be able to fill any imaginable system. 4 centre forwards, two number 10s and 3 wide forwards.

A loan is probably good for him, he needs to be playing, but then why Fenerbace and why now? Not ideal to develop.

All in all, Rodgers and the committee come out looking like fools whatever the reasoning being. We're not so financially privileged to be spunking 20mill on a player and loaning them out again. It's like Aquilani all over - minus the injuries. Give young players a proper chance or don't buy them and buy in experienced quality. Rodgers seems to want young talent who are expected to instantly perform after a few weeks of his outstanding training and management...well...not working great so far.

The kid looks useless imo, however I think he has more to his game than Lallana. A loan to a Prem club would be better

Dunno. He will play more in Turkey I think and in Europe too.

He will either make his way at Watford or not make their team.

If he played and improved Watford then when we play Is missing we get an advantage :bandit:

This is the problem with the committee vs Rodgers dynamic of the club. If the player is a committee buy the manager still has the ability to freeze out the player and cast them aside or give them fewer chances if they don't perform straight away. Whereas the manager picks are given the time to play and find their feet.
A simple comparison would be Lallana vs Markovic. Both similar fees, both play in similar positions and both took time to show anything. Yet where Lallana has been given starting places and also played in his preferred position and what has he show to deserve this, his performances haven't been great and he's been mostly anonymous in games. Poor Markovic has been played out of position been given a handful of games mostly from the bench and also lets take into consideration that he's a young lad from a foreign country. His performances have been fairly poor as well, but no worse than Lallana, yet is deemed not good enough for the squad this year.

So seemingly the Managers pick, Lallana, is chosen ahead of the committee man, Markovic. Sakho is looking similar. As a committee signing you've really got to hit the ground running or the manager is going to leave you in the Arctic.

Either let the committee have full power and remove the manager from transfers, or give it all to the manager (I wouldn't be giving it to Rodgers as he is a proper spanner)

My view is i saw very little to convince me Markovich was going to make it here however with the EL commitments (unless we plan to top do a WHam) surprised we have thinned our squad
As an aside in the same vein with our lack of fullbacks amazed (even though BR clearly doesn't rate him) that Wisdom was loaned out

Absolutely ridiculous if true, the managers job is assessed on results regardless of who picks the players at the transfer stage. If Brendan is willing to throw away his career and reputation for such a trivial thing he needs to be got rid of now.

Huge serious post ahead, feel free to skip.

Unfortunately it's obvious. We have the obvious comparisons in Sakho and Markovic but in the past we had the same with Lucas and some others. Balotelli for example. He wasn't good last season. He wasn't some undiscovered starlet not being given a chance. But he was left out to dry the moment Rodgers made it clear that he did not want Balotelli and he wasn't going to do anything to help him succeed. It's weird - Rodgers is young and this is his first job at a world-class club (I know you'll object but let's be real, in terms of European pedigree). He does not want the committee system and it's obvious that it's not working for the club, the players themselves, or the results. But the alternative is far worse. Rodgers has proven that he cannot make astute signings. Maybe it will change, many of the players he has signed have not had the proper circumstances to prove themselves. But others have. And what we've seen of "his" signings is nothing better than the "committee" signings. Lallana vs Markovic. Both haven't set the prem alight. Both have had poor performances. But one being a Rodgers signing and the other being a committee signing, you can see the difference in how he treats them. Lallana's chance comes in an attacking midfielder role, 5 games in a row, etc. Markovic's come at left-wingback <laugh> every 5 games, for a single half.

And when both show nothing of note, you have to look at the other factors. Markovic was 20, likely to learn from experience, grow as a player. Markovic had more European experience than Lallana probably ever will. Lallana was 26 - an age at which midfielders are less likely to get better than their younger counterparts. Which one of the two is a better choice to build your team around for the future? Those opportunities will help Markovic twice the amount they will help Lallana.

Sakho (committee) has been injured a lot, but not really all the time. He's had periods of just sitting on the bench watching Lovren (Rodgers signing) **** up. He's played his ****ing heart out for France during that time, he's talked about leading the Liverpool squad as future captain, etc. He's shown more composure in his appearances than Lovren has. He's been more solid (yes he looks like he's clumsy but he's actually not) and it's baffling to see Lovren in that starting XI week in week out.

His treatment of Balotelli was awful, and even if Balotelli was awful too, a manager should not hang their players out to dry in the public eye. He was well-behaved save a few minor Balo-isms and he even scored vs. Tottenham. Scored 1 more than Lambert too, but got 8 less appearances. The team would try and setup headers to Lambert every game, yet they would not run up and support Balotelli in attack - something that after about 25 games is obviously a tactical decision.

This committee/Rodgers power grab is eating the club inside and out and I'm very disappointed that Rodgers is doing what he is doing.

Rodgers has a philosophy - the players have to adapt to fit it. Good managers have players - their philosophy adapts to the players at their disposal.

Of course over the years good managers can slowly work towards an overall game plan by replacing their players, but WHILE those players are there, they adapt their own plans to accomodate the strengths of those players. Rodgers doesn't. It's fit or **** off.

Now, I have said that Rodgers is young. One day, he'll probably drop the ego and that day he will become a brilliant manager. He's shown glimpses of it for us, he's had us playing amazing football. He's clearly a good man-manager and he's not afraid to rely on youth. But as of now, his ego is in the way of his and our success. Alienating committee signings is a sign that he's only getting more stubborn. That's why I'm currently of the opinion he has to go. And it saddens me because I liked Rodgers. I like his smile and his enthusiasm, and even his fake discipline for the documentaries. I like his style of relying on youth. I like how he is a tactical manager as opposed to a good old fashioned "get stuck in" one. But stubbornness killed Rafa and it will kill Rodgers. I wish he turns around and makes me look like an absolute twat for this post, and I am his biggest supporter when it comes to filling that wish. But I've seen nothing this or last season to suggest he will.

Nobody ever drops the ego... ever.

I've never seen anyone drop the ego then become greater.

Ego and arrogance are not the same thing though.

    Great post Danilo.

Unfortunately, not many will actually question the manager and just blindly follow him. I'm not even talking about fans - the media are so up his arse, it's ridiculous. I've mentioned it before - if this was Rafa, he would have been hounded out long ago.

With Markovic gone and Sakho marginalised, Ilori is set to become the next talented youngster to leave (on loan). I have wanted Ilori to be given a chance at RCB alongside Sakho but many have said why take the risk, whilst backing Gomez to be picked ahead of Moreno (Gomez being younger and less experienced).

If Allen and Henderson were both fully fit, I highly doubt Can would be given as many games as he has done.

We have a talented squad but a manager who is either so arrogant to marginalise players he didn't want, or simply blind to see their quality. Either way - it's very worrying and he simply should not be at this club. He has been found out time and time again. He is ruining this club.

I think players with arrogance can be okay - Ronaldo, Ibra, - their egos or arrogance or both are bi-products of success.

Here's an interesting quote - that could be about Rodgers and Mourinho - ''There are two circumstances that lead to arrogance: one is when you're wrong and you can't face it; the other is when you're right and nobody else can face it.”

True but dropping the ego is necessary to get better. When it's what's holding you back, there is one fix for it. Stop being stubborn. That's it. But obviously that doesn't often happen.

Arrogance can be justified if your performances match. BR's don't.
