Not sure what to think feels very shambolic. I am just not hopeful for our season and I almost think that we are at the beginning of a few seasons of mid table mediocrity. I am being a miserable bugger but I don't see much of a spark in the squad and I don't see Poch igniting anything. If we finish just above relegation this year then it has to be a safe bet that Lloris, Eriksen and possibly Kane will be asking for transfers and then we will be rogered

So many negatives also at the end of last summer's window.

Kane wasn't ready yet-we started with Ade and Soldado. We've got two attacking players in, in Clinton and Son. Let's see how it works out.

Spurs definitely thought Berahino was coming- that is why Pulis bought Lambert and Rondon. Pulis thought he was leaving as well. Peace obviously wanted to get one over Levy. We will yet see who wins their battle.

It does feel like the beginning of the end of our little good run of being higher up the table, unless one of these new chaps hits the ground running and turns out to be a great signing.

I don’t think that our usual transfer window shenanigans presage doom. Our squad remains what it was, about on a par with Liverpool’s, weaker than the top four’s, and stronger than anyone else’s. We had what I think are on balance three very good major buys, especially Alderweireld, and picked up a good squad player. That we left one glaring hole in the squad is par for our course, and for many other clubs as well.

Winning a transfer window wins you nothing. Remember that great one a couple of years ago where we kept signing such great players one after the next? No savior is likely to come in to turn your club around. What really makes a team is gathering a core of players and letting them develop, which we are doing this year, for once.

We don't know what went on behind the scenes for Berahino to Tweet that but I have little sympathy for Peace as he was constantly making unprofessional statements about transfer bids. It's our job to unsettle the player, not his <laugh>

That said Levy should have moved earlier. Much earlier.

It's been a very poor window, no getting around that. There's a clear striker shaped hole in our squad and a clear lack of depth in centre mid. I just hope we can get by without these problems becoming exacerbated by injuries.

The summer hasn't been without it's positives though:

-New contracts for a lot of important players
-No messy transfer sagas with Lloris and Kane
    -Lots of surplus players gone
    -Defence boosted by early signings
-We've added some pace to our attack, even if it was very late

That's about it. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the signings we got in but hopefully they can prove me wrong over the season.

I don't see the point of paying off his contract, he could then leave and potentially go to someone else in the league and no doubt score against us. He wants to stay in London, maybe he should get a job as a labourer on the new ground.

We supposedly made the move 4 months ago according to someone from Sky. If that's the case either Peace has been mugging us off the entire time or Levy should have realised he was being played and looked elsewhere. Or both.

The fan's view on the beeb sums it up pretty well i think......

    'A deplorable lack of ambition'
What the fans think: Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs’ failure to sign another striker or an experienced midfielder signals a deplorable lack of ambition that could stifle the development of a young squad full of potential and leaves us vulnerable to competitors. The right men in these two positions could make a significant difference but chairman Daniel Levy, the so-called shrewd negotiator, catastrophically misjudged a market flush with TV cash. Teams no longer have to cave in because they just don’t need the money. Another window, yet another missed opportunity. Today’s desperate Berahino or bust shambles obscures concerns that Spurs’ overhaul of scouting and recruitment failed to find alternatives. The club site’s pathetic attempt to solve the problem by reclassifying Heung-Min Son as a striker did not play well with frustrated and furious fans. Now let’s get behind the team. COYS

Cue the usual "open letter" from the head honcho in the not too distant future if things start to go tits up on the field (which they will the minute Kane gets injured or burns out; whichever comes first) stating the usual bollocks we have to swallow like we're gullible mugs.

I wonder what Poch thinks of Levy at the moment. Poch wanted Berahino and then sees his chairman spend weeks pratting around and then offering derisory amounts. When Poch leaves the club, I think we will all look back on today and see this as the beginning of the end for the guy.

The thing is that, most likely, Martial was the backup plan - but he went and signed a new contract with Monaco, most likely so they could demand a much higher fee, so at that point it was go back to the original plan of Berahino or look to bring in the third striker on the list (which, based on transfer rumours, was either Timo Werner of Stuttgart or Breel Embolo of Basel)

    Lennon to Everton now confirmed.

In other news, our former player Jon Obika leaves Swindon on a free to Sheffield United and our former wing back Nathan Byrne gets a well earned step up a division from Swindon to Wolves.

Agreed. There are many on here who feel like Poch isn't right for Tottenham - that might/might not be the case. What we can all agree on is that Poch, like so many before him, has not been backed appropriately in the transfer window.

I cannot for the life of me believe that you didn't sign anyone in the last couple of days in the window - Absolute shambles, and I see a dark season ahead for the Spuds.

Yet all the Levy apologists will come out soon enough when he eventually fires another manager for not achieving a completely unrealistic top four finishing position. Round and round it goes...

I can speak Spanish, so maybe I'll ask him!...I think I know what the answer will be.
Although he's let himself down with his petulant tweet, I feel a little sorry for Berahino. He seems to have become a pawn in some macho game of brinkmanship between Levy & Peace.
