We are definitely a weaker side without Wanyama. My point is, how much does that matter? If it means we finish 14th instead of 9th, I am not sure I care. Thing with Schneiderlin was, the offer from Spurs was weak, and we got a lot more money from holding on to him for one more season. Not as much as we should have gotten, but still. Also, we could be pretty sure Schneiderlin would knuckle down and play because 1) he's a pro, and 2) he's smart. It was almost a sure thing he would be worth more if we held on to him. I'm not sure that Wanyama will ever be worth more than 18m (presuming Tottenham actually offered that). So seeing as how there isn't much to play for this season, I'm okay with a "rebuild" where we drop some points this year to gain some in later years. Like I said before, there are other things at play here-- we can't let ourselves get pushed around by players, agents, or other teams. So for that reason, I think we are right to make a stand. But I would also have no hesitancy in parking Wanyama on the bench the entire season if his attitude does not improve.
Don't disagree with what you've said really. The only thing I'd say is that we don't know that this is a nothing to play for season. I'm not writing it off or taking anything for granted. We could finish top 6, we could be fighting relegation (like you I dont think it'll be either, but you never know). We've played 4 games and I wouldn't be making too many decisions for the next 34 now. Looking at our squad, I'd say that Bic would be picked in he first 11 more often than not, assuming normal circumstances. Give it a couple of weeks or so and he'll have his head right and back fighting for his place.
I agree with the Cork sentiment. Would have been a dangerous game to play though, letting everyone know we're such a willing selling club.
According to reports on everybody's favourite radio channel, talkSport, ****yama has accepted his fate of staying at SMS but has publicly threatened the club that he will run his contract down and leave for nothing to get his own back Nice....that will go down well with his team mates, management and fans
So we get Wanyama for two more years? Long as he steps up on the pitch I wouldn't mind that.. He will be gone next year tho.
Let him run his contract down, then get the groundsman to do the same to him, with a lawn mower, just before he leaves. Karma.
He seems to think that a contract is a document which gives him ALL the rights and the other party ALL the responsibilities. Your agent is misleading you Victor 'ole son.
MLT said on Sky that he understood Spurs bid was a couple of weeks ago and less than we paid Celtic for him. Spurs really are a joke, they obviously didn't learn anything from their stupid bid for Morgan last year.
So Victor thinks it is better to be pig-headed and stay somewhere you don't want to be for two years, rather than do a Morgan (do your best and get a move in a years time, probably to a better club). As said, not the smartest tool in the box...never do or say something in anger...it will come back to bite you.
