    Poor stuff today.

Though having hung my jock strap up years ago I couldn't miss the name of Lightsome in the first at Goodwood. As owned by Qatar Racing I must presume they are worn on camels. Good luck to this filly.

Agree with Bustino, not the best days racing today.

Will have a dabble on a Hannon double today. He only sends one to Goodwood and comes in a 3 runner event. PALAWAN 3.45 should be winning this and winning comfortably. Been racing in better class races than other two and experience should count with this one. Also amazed this is not odds on.

In the 4.10 Epsom Tom Marquand claims a good 5lb aboard MISHGHAR.

Nice single on Palawan and small double.

I see Palawan is drifting, out to 11/8jf

Beef stew and dumplings (well it is Tuesday). 9/10.

I see that my old fave, Telescope, has been retired. Harry Herbert reports that there are lots of studs keen to stand him as a stallion next term – Telescope that is not Harry Herbert.

Telescope never obliged at the highest level but he did in his time put up several very decent efforts (the 2014 Hardwicke being the highlight and that burst of acceleration will long live in the old memory) and, who knows, if injury hadn’t intervened he may have won the Derby in ’13. I’d expect him to make quite an impact in the old breeding shed.

Hamton 3.35 Miss Ranger win 7/2.
Barney do you think Wenger will land us a much needed striker by six bells or will we be left disappointed again!

It’s now 2/5 that we won’t sign anyone at all! Not looking good.

Bustino: the standard product name for the jockstrap/monopoly company was Litesome (eight letters). You obviously needed the larger nine-letter Lightsome version. As I remember it, mine was the Exceptionallydurablefeatherweight.

Thought XMAS came early yesterday with WOR LASS but this PALAWAN, couldn't believe it was not odds on. Easy as you like.

Yes a poor day when old jock straps get so much airing (I knew there was something wrong with Lightsome but couldn't work it out!! thanks rainer).

Canford Cliffs had another winner in that race and is a few winners ahead of Zoffany in the First Season Sires championship. Both look good sires with very high winners to runners ratios but Dream Ahead with far fewer runners so far has an even higher winners to runners rate. Three promising new sires.
