I know the type you are describing. I would roll my eyes in full view of them so they would be left in no doubt.
Deluded West Ham fans, owners pundits etc who say crap like "play the West Ham way". I immediately think just **** off, also applies to Spurs and others etc ...
"It's a funny old game" "It's the big one" "He's almost hit that too well, Clive" "Too good to go down" "That's a good time to score" / "bad time to concede"
Anything regarding the history of a club. It's entirely irrelevant because it's right now that matters in terms of football today. Why does Everton's history somehow mean they have a divine right to win matches or be at the top of the football pyramid. You only have to look at teams like Swansea to say that Everton can **** off. Not just Everton. Plenty of teams harp on about their past like it bares any relevance today.
Estadio Azteca. During a U.S. Mexico game they will say that like 10,000 times even if the game isn't being played there.
"He's almost hit that too well, Clive" - I've always wondered... The ultimate football non sequitur. Wonderful. "Good touch for a big man" - are his feet too big or summat?
''they'll play a more attacking game at home'; why? Why should formations and playing styles differ home and away?
The ref 'evening it out' regarding pens or sending offs after a controversial first incident, what they should say is this ref is a bit crap but never do
