A disappointing afternoon and a game we should have won. We had far the better of the first half with the second half more even though I only remember Leutwiler having to make one save before their late goal. Burton were very unimpressive for an unbeaten side in the league and seemed content for a point until we gifted them all three. We got into plenty of good positions but the final ball or cross lacked quality and we are often not even beating the first man. We also had a few attempts from corners but did not manage to get a single one of these on target. Even though it is relatively early days I am beginning to get a bit worried. Of the new recruits I would say Agogo adds a bit of pace and aggression to midfield. Brown had a rocky first twenty minutes but then sprang into life with our two best efforts rattling the woodwork. At the moment it is difficult to say any of the other new additions brings any improvement to the side we had last season. We have lost our best player of last season (get fit soon NKP please to fill the gap left by Goldson) and we are quite likely to lose Woods (who I cannot see being replaced with anyone of remotely the same quality) and we cannot seem to buy a win at the moment. At least with Blackpool in this league we are unlikely to be bottom but many in the team need to step up to the mark quickly as it looks like a fairly grim battle for survival at the moment.
I agree with all that you say GMM but as yet I am not dispirited. The goal we gave away was, initially, largely down to Ellis who failed to get in any sort of tackle. It is just a question of hitting on a system and persons, from those already available, to operate it. Pleased to see 3-5-2 again but I see NKP replacing Sadler in the three and I would rather Mickey Demetriou play in the 5, but I cannot see that happening.
I hope you are right KDS and it is very early on but we really need to get one win from the next two away games to settle the nerves. Interesting to hear talk on B and A that Brentford only bid 400K for Woods - it seems to me that other clubs often underestimate the value of our best players whereas teams like Crewe seem to get sky-high prices for theirs (and they often do not go on to fulfil their promise). Anyway, if that rumour is true it is likely we will have the pleasure of seeing Woods play for us this season.
