yep, good result that. On a roll. Top six after what looked on paper to be a string of difficult games in August.
.................................and we've got such an easy September....... Anyway, fck the prediction league, just had 32 quid paid into my account......
A month at a time Sparkey Relegation but a healthy betting account. I could live with that. As I said earlier Sparkey, a no lose position for you.
I thought Slade was a poor appointment - a bloke who had achieved nothing in his years of management. I had Slade being sacked by the end of August and here we are unbeaten and fifth in the Table. Early days I know but not many expected us to be anywhere but near the other end of the Table before the international break. And the football isn't that bad either. Perhaps the Slade/Trollope combo deserve some credit. He certainly has surprised me.
I'm an optimist by nature, but had my doubts. Still do. However, there are signs of encouragement. There certainly is more of a team ethic this season and no doubt the wage bill will be a lot healthier. Its whether we can stick it out for the duration and finish the season top 6. I also have doubts about our back up strike force. Most of the rest of the positions have cover, but up front worries me.
I reckon we've played 5 poor teams on the day. If the others are as bad as they've been when we meet them, we'll stay up there. September looks easy on paper exactly the opposite that August appeared to be - we'll see. (How half empty is that!)
Im starting to think Slade and his staff may prove the doubters (including myself wrong). Great 3 points.
I told you so!! obviously only joking. Loads of football to play but add the start of this season to the last 10 games or so of last and we're on playoff form at worst. We'd have all been over the moon with 9 points unbeaten going into the international break. Credit to Big R, long may it continue
