This sums up pretty much how I feel. I will add though that the players have to take responsibility for their performances, it's one thing tactics being wrong but they are professionals doing a job and need to put a shift in regardless of whether they are in the right position or not.

Agreed. Fear this maybe where we will miss Stevie the most. Ensuring players play for the shirt and are always motivated. Levels have been dropping since we had Carra and Stevie in the team.

Agreed. But you can see who is trying. You can see that despite being sloppy in possession, Can is doing a lot to make sure every possession he has is a meaningful one. You can see that Coutinho is tired of being stifled by having a single target ahead of him, and carrying the team. You can see Firmino is trying to adjust his skills to match the team he is in. You can see Clyne is twice the fullback for us than Johnson was. But then you see Lovren dribbling the ball, Skrtel failing to clear properly, etc. And you know that they're secure in the knowledge they aren't getting dropped.

This is the thing that puzzles me - BR puts too much store in how the players perform in training and he picks them seemingly based on that rather than tweaking places to fit the opposition in hand.

I like Skrtel, he does a lot right as well but people focus more on what he does wrong because his position means any mistake is likely to be costly. To add to Redbrynners comments - I feel there's nobody playing now that is doing it for the love of the team. LFC is not at the centre of a single player we currently have. [local youngsters like Rossiter aside because he's barely broken into the team].

It's tough to feel positive after a loss like that when you know that it's been nigh on 50 years since West Ham beat us at home and your first thought is well done on that achievement, BR. :emoticon-0137-clapp

Bottom line is unless he actually learns by his mistakes and then wins us something, anything, then it will be easy to shout for his head.

That said, it's been three seasons. I have to say I was amazed FSG kept him on after last season; then I began to doubt their credentials. The season before it was Suarez kept us in the race. Early days these doors I know but we weren't that great in the first three matches tbh.

IMO BR hasn't done much in the way of learning. He keeps titting about with the formation and I reckon Cout's sending off was all about frustration today.

    Well that was simply ****.

I'm not going to try and pick holes in individuals as it's clear to me one thing hasn't changed which is the desire to go at there to a man and fight.

    'Mistakes can happen'
    Liverpool 0-3 West Ham
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Sport: "The first goal is a cheap goal and that gave them a motivation and fight. The second was a mistake, which can happen. We started brightly and then had Coutinho sent off. I didn't think that was a sending off and neither was the one for Noble as well.
"We didn't defend moments well at all. We need to be much better than that. That opportunity to work the goalkeeper didn't happen. We are disappointed but we'll reflect on it and come back and look to win our next game."

Isn't the only job Lucas can do for us supposed to be to stop this kind of result happening, so no reason not to let him go.

I didn't see the game so is this inaccurate?

People (no one in particular) keep saying that he's young and leaning from mistakes...they've been saying that for 3 years and the same mistakes keep being made as far as I can see. Is he really learning? Is he really improving as a manager?

Our squad is pretty good on paper, so the question you have to ask is is there anyone available who would do better with this set of players than Rodgers can manage? If so, sack the man and get him instead.

I can't think of anyone off the top of my head who'd be willing to come who's an improvement on him so, as much as I have zero faith in Rodgers, there's little point in removing him right now. We'll just have to continue with the same old he's young and learning bullshit to make ourselves feel better about the next game when, in reality, we know pretty much who's going to play, how we'll set up, how few goals we'll score and how we'll be on the edge of our seats every time the ball comes within 10yards of Skrtel and Lovren.

BR is right about both red cards, neither player deserved a second yellow

Regardless of what we think and want, BR persuaded the owners to let him stay. They might be looking very carefully at that result and marking his card. It was a poor performance.

I agree with you, but, well, it's him who chooses the team and he sticks to the same dross like Lovren. Sorry, but you and I know the buck will always stop with the manager. I don't like it, but it does.

My money's on Mourinho to be sacked well in advance, though <laugh>

Brenda must be odds on for the chop now with Klopp still available.

Agree Lovren must be dropped and Sakho brought in. Yeah, the buck will stop with BR,but some are calling for his head now purely
    based on one defeat.

Jose? <laugh> What on earth is going on at Chelski
