    Chip on the shoulder?
I think you can direct that to UIR's bitter post

Exaggerated, yeh very possibly. Bitter? No. I dont see why anyone would think City have any more of a chance than previous seasons of winning it.

Look at it objectively, those who give City a chance of winning the CL also have City as favourites for the title. In effect, saying City will go from never winning the CL to doing the double! And all of that based on 3 games?

What do you think you're likely to achieve this season? IMO you look good for the title but the last few seasons in the CL show very little progress in terms of mentality or tactical nouse to get beyond a certain stage.

City are favourites for the league, quite rightly.

They probably won't win the CL, hence quite long odds, but it's not inconceivable they could make the semis. I'd fancy them to go further than United despite your soft group.

Semi's I doubt very much, but that still doesnt make them winners. And anyone suggesting the double is clearly living in la la land. Not sure what United have to do with it either, but we will see.

I think they have a favourites chance of the premier league, can't see anyone other than Chelsea realistically challenging,Utd are a few players short and Arsenal aren't physically or mentally strong enough.Liverpool and Spurs are largely irrelevant as far as winning it are concerned.
I don't see our CL group as difficult as the media have suggested
All 3 are beatable and I would be disappointed if we didn't top the group given the investment into the squad with the quality recruitments that we've missed for a couple of seasons and then it's down to getting a bit of luck in the draw for a change

What do you mean luck in the draw? At some point you have to play one or more of the better teams to win it.

    A PSG, Real Madrid
    B PSV, Rags,
    C Benfica, Ath Mad
    D Man City Juventus
    E Barca, Bayer Leverkusen
    F Bayern, Arsenal
    G Chelsea, Porto
    H Zenit, Valencia

    Not inconceivable to have
City v a team like Leverkusen or Porto then a 2 legged affair against an English team which would probably suit us more then it's a semi if all goes well

    Bitter. About what exactly?

Your post seems very bitter. Like your desperately trying to convince yourself.

Luckily your post earlier shows that you two find the whole thing at city distasteful.

Doubt they will win the league either. Impressive start from a side no better than last season. Two players who haven't impressed in the premier league much for over 100million is laughable.

Especially since FFP was never scrapped and the appeal thrown out. Wonder how they will explain there spending to Uefa.

I don't need to worry about City every winning the champions league. It will never happen. Plenty will make sure of it.

Pretty sure people said that about Chelsea.
A team that can win the Premier League has a shot at the Champions League.
They're not favourites, but no English club is at the moment.

Chelsea played the most negative football in Europe to win it. To City's credit, they at least try and attack sides.

It just so happens to be their downfall too. Europes top sides just pick them off at will. That and the fact uefa despises them.

Chelsea are the only club of that ilk to have won it or even come close to. They may be the worst team to ever win it but its a win.

That's a heck of a lot of luck mate <laugh>

I agree you're favourites for the league. I think what you're not factoring in (and a fair few others aren't either) is the demands of fighting on two fronts in the league and in Europe from March onwards. In mickey mouse leagues like Portugal, the luck of the draw will get you so far. But with the demands of the Premier League and then the knockouts of the Champions League, I can't see ANY English team achieving that this season, not just City.

In fact, other than Barcelona and Bayern, I can't see any other team managing that this season.

I probably should have been more specific, but I meant that a team that's good enough to win the Premier League has a shot at winning the Champions League, though not necessarily in the same season.
This seems much easier in other countries.

Don't try and compare two vastly different situations. You will only end up looking stupid again.
