    Steve Bruce says Nikica Jelavic and Chuba Akpom are fit for tomorrow's home game with Preston.

    Steve Bruce has revealed he's made a bid for an unnamed goalkeeper in a permanent deal but it's not Vito Mannone or Dan Bentley.

    Steve Bruce says there's been plenty of interest but no firm bids for any of his existing squad.

    As Maloney is already signed the international clearance can come any time up until the teamsheet is due can't it?

    I seem to remember Aluko being a surprise inclusion after getting temporary international clearance the morning of a game.

    Steve Bruce has an almost fully-fit squad to choose from for Saturday’s home game against Preston North End.

    Nikica Jelavic and Chuba Akpom have both recovered from the minor knee problems that kept them out of the midweek Capital One Cup win against Rochdale while Mohamed Diame has shown no adverse reactions following his first start since last December in that game and could be in line for his first league appearance of the season.

    New signing Shaun Maloney is currently waiting to see if international clearance is granted in time for him to make his debut after his move from Chicago Fire, leaving Robert Snodgrass (knee) as the only definite absentee.

    Preston will be without injured defender Greg Cunningham for the trip to East Yorkshire, but Will Keane and Jordan Hugill should both be available, along with striker Jermaine Beckford.

    Big game this for us I think.

    We've been getting results without performing well. So I'm hoping the Charlton loss will be the reality check and kick up the arse needed to kick start our season.

    I like that. An attacking MF that knows how to get forward and keep the pressure on. Bring Aluko, Hayden, and Luer or Jelavic on sometime after 65 mins. But leave Hudd on the bench.
