    Date: Saturday, 29th August 2015
    Venue: Molineux Stadium
    Kick Off: 3pm

We reach our final game of August, and what an opening month it has been to the new football season. We cannot deny that this month has worked wonders for Luzon's credibility as a manager, with him now winning over even the most skeptical of Charlton Athletic fans. We head to The Molineux with Luzon's band of merry men undefeated in all competitions and sitting respectably 3rd place, in the SkyBet Championship. On Tuesday we secured a place in the third round of the league cup, with a tasty tie against local South London rivals Crystal Palace, to be played on Wednesday, 23rd September 2015. Let us hope that we finish August the way we started, UNDEFEATED.

    The Opposition
Wolverhampton Wanderers is a team similar in fortunes as to ourselves, having experienced the highlights of the Premier Leauge, a few seasons later being resigned to the low point of League One. During their 2013/14 season, Wolverhampton Wanderers secured promotion back to The Championship (now enjoying their second season at this level), with a record 103 points. The beat Chris Powell's Charlton Athletic whom previously held the record of 101 points. Their manager is a man who we should all know well, for the wrong reasons, Kenny Jackett, formerly of Millwall. Their first season back in charge, Wolverhampton Wanderers narrowly missed out on play-offs on the final day of the season to Ipswich. Moving forwards to this season, they find themselves without Bakary Sako, and potentially see themselves lose Benik Afobe to Norwich. Sources in the SLP still say that the James Henry deal is still on for us, despite Jackett stating that "he's part of their plan." Wolves head into this match hoping to end two games without a win.

    Current Form
A couple more matches and we will be able to get clearer indications:

    Head-To-Head
    head to head.PNG
There has been four meetings between Charlton Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers since 2012, due to competing in different leagues. The matches that have occurred has been quite the drab affair, currently standing at three draws and one win, the win happening on Saturday, 20th April 2013, thanks to a last minture goal by Jonathan Obika (Dorian Dervite being the other), the final score ending 2 - 1. The other three games, one ending in a no score draw, the other two both conceding a goal each.

Club Updates: Wolverhampton Match - Luzon's Press Conference

    Line Up
With the above in mind, I think that we're going to see some small changes in our line up to the previous match. I would expect the following:
please log in to view this image

I would suspect that we will see Igor Vetokele return to the bench, and have not heard of any news about Ceballos on his fitness after hobbling off against Hull City. We could see him feature instead of Bergdich, with Ba moving out to the wing (Ceballos playing behind Makienok).

    Odds
    odds.PNG

Find it surprising that given our current start to the season, and beating both QPR and Hull, remaining undefeated, we are 5/1 to win this. Could be worth a good punt for the away win for a good return.

    Outcome

Whilst Wolves have seemed to score the same amount of goals as us, their defence appears to be super leaky at this point in the season. This is a match I feel that we will win, especially given that we have beaten some of the Championship "big boys" the expectation for us to do well out of this match will be there.

    COYR! COYA!

    Nice work, China. <ok>

I'm attending this one and will be sitting in a box (not cardboard, no) belonging to a rather famous Wolves fan. Whether said luminary will be present remains to be seen, but just receiving the invite is a massive thrill and honour.

    I'm predicting a 1-1.

Been before. I remember sitting in the upper tier, which is very steep! Wolves fans are quite friendly people, staying in Birmingham after the match, had a few beers with a couple of them.

One that I'm not able make. Only the one away match for me this August! Too much partying like Austin Powers over August, which is moving into September and October!

I agree that Wolves fans are very friendly, although the only time I've been there was over 30 years ago when we lost 3-0 in the Cup. WE don't have a good record against Kenny Jackett, but now we have a manager who can match his tactical acumen, so although this will be a tough game, I'm optimistic. There is great team spirit, and they scrap for every ball. China's not too far out in the team he picks, although Bergdich probably won't be the long-term answer on the left.
0-0 at H/T, Igor to come on and score the winner.

Making my way for this one, albeit with a massive hangover no doubt.

I'm confident of getting a point, and hoping that the unrest over some possible outgoing transfers for them can see us get 3 points. A lot of people seem to think Vetokele will start, but I'd be surprised. He needs further wrapping in cotton wool IMO.

If Solly isn't 100% either then I'm happy to see Cousins deputise again. If not I imagine he goes back to the left with the beast and Ba in the middle.

I'm going bold and think we may well win this 0-2, the second coming towards the end. Even bolder, 2 goals for big Mak.

I'm with you on that one. I have put down two £5 bets. One on 1 - 1 (6.50 odds) and 0 - 2 (26.00 odds). I don't do the fractions, I find using decimal betting makes it easier to calculate the returns. I'm thinking Guðmundsson will be on the score sheet.

Identical, as I usually cover us at 1-1 or draw outright. Well that's my in ground bet.

Had a shocker last week so looking to bounce back. Had the image below midweek for £400 <doh>

    Travel Advice
For those reading this forum and going to The Molineux and travelling to either Cannon Street and Charing Cross (to head north to the midlands), I saw a gigantic sign at the station saying that over the bank holiday weekend they are closing mainline stations for essential repairs, and trains will be running as far as New Cross. You might want to make alternative arrangements, and leave earlier as not to miss connections.

I too hope that neither Solly nor Vetokele play unless 100% fit, and I suspect they are not.

I think Makienok would be hopeless as a lone striker, so I expect A-G to start again.

If you want to read the clubs preview:
    http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/...rhampton-wanderers-match-preview-2653833.aspx

Judging by the latest comments from the club, Chris Solly is now a huge doubt, along with Cabellos. Igor they expect will be on the bench, and is fit. He won't be match ready though, need some time to bed in. I have a feeling that they'll bring him on in the dying embers of the match.

It makes sense to do that. He'll still have pace to trouble tiresome defenses.

Ba unlucky to be left out. He is a superior player to Bergdich, but the latter gives better balance and enables Cousins to play more centrally, so I can see why.

If we can maintain impetus, we can achieve a 1-1 draw, which would be a good result.
