Hope it's true. I get the feeling he's been holding out for a better deal but his options are limited to us.

Poor bastard. Seriously though he could do worse, I know we had a bad first two games and a good third but we're not exactly doomed. I think if I was an impartial player then Sunderland would be a perfectly attractive prospect.

SUNDERLAND are set to sign Jonathan de Guzman less than a week after being snubbed by the Napoli midfielder.

The Holland international is ready to join the Black Cats on a season's loan with a view to a permanent £3.5m deal, but Emanuele Giaccherini won't be heading the other way after the Serie A side turned down a chance to take the Italian midfielder on loan.

Keyboards recovering well Terry mate, cheers

I went to Australia for a while and realised that I was spending too much time on my backside so I made my wife a promise to get out and about more often and enjoy our retirement doing things that we had little time for when I was working.

Trouble is this place is like a fix and I like to read what you lot are saying. I use my phone instead of laptop so it is easier to just like comments especially when my fingers are thicker than a Ghurkhas foreskin and makes typing difficult on a small device.

I use twitter quite a bit now where I occasionally chat to Bri although he probably doesn't realise who I am. So don't worry, I am still with you in spirit and love the crack between you all, I am sure that I will contribute more once the long nights set in

Good to hear from you mate, glad you're well!

Think I've said this already to other people, you can chat to most phones nowadays and they write what you say.

I'm not sure that'll work too well on the 'Ruin Sex In 5 Words' thread mind, your wife will probably club you round the canister with a frying pan.

    Take care mate. <ok>

    "After being snubbed"!

What utter bollocks! If he'd snubbed us that means he's not interested.if he's said "can I have a little time to think about it" that's not snubbing! I love the press me.

Claim From Italy: Sunderland Suffer Potentially Fatal Blow In Jonathan de Guzman Chase

    28/08/2015 - 10:24 BST

Napoli midfielder Jonathan de Guzman has finally knocked back Sunderland’s offer of a return to England this summer.

The former Swansea man was in talks with Sunderland for a move to the Stadium of Light and had reportedly agreed in principle to join Dick Advocaat’s team.

However, the 27-year-old was taking his own time to make a final decision, which frustrated Napoli, who were keen to replace him with Marseille’s Mario Lemina.

And according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, after a period of contemplation, the Dutchman has refused to move to the Stadium of Light this summer.

Napoli had agreed a season-long loan deal with Sunderland for the midfielder, but he has decided to reject the offer from the Black Cats.

It was suggested that he was ready to move back to England, but it seems a move to a struggling Premier League side such as Sunderland has ultimately not appealed to De Guzman.

The Dutch international joined Napoli from Villarreal last summer and made 36 appearances in all competitions for the club last season.

He has 71 Premier League appearances under his belt for Swansea and Advocaat was hoping to add that experience to his struggling Sunderland side.

You needed a striker (Toivanen) more than him anyway. You're midfield could be decent once everyone is fit and gels, shame Giacc can't get in on the show.

By the sounds of it though, this Toivonen is going to be used somewhere in midfield...that's what Advocaat said on SSN. He said he's now happy with the midfield and thats that area sorted. He said he has faith in our defense and that they were good at end of last season and havent became bad over night so to speak.
So are we still going to get a striker? We aren't even linked with anyone now. I thought Toivonen was going to play up top tbh..

Ok so if we don't get Jonathen De Guzman then so be it, the squad would look better with him, fer and loamberts in it for sure.. I'm a firm believer that Dick can improve our 'current squad' over the season. We haven't been in the league this long for being piss poor.. I don't care who disagrees, their is quality in our squad, they ain't reaching their potential and DA is the man to unlock this believe me.. This is DA's biggest challenge yet, looking forward to what he can bring too our club!

Totally agree Aussie. Our problem is we don't get the best out of what we have got. Ie players playing out of position etc. The main one for me is how the hell can Danny Graham start with his scoring record and even more amazing Defoe gets pushed out wide to accomodate him! Might make sense to some of you but doesnt make sense to me.
