So were the people who were told they should be out working rather than earning benefits, and who have then gone out into the world of unemployment, only to then demonstrate they perhaps weren't quite "fit and ready" to by dropping down dead within weeks part of your group of "arseholes" or not? Yes, people die all the time, and I'm not saying they all popped their clogs because of having to go back to work, but the average age of living in the UK is supposedly in the 80's, so I dare say these people deemed fit for work were comfortably under that so it does kinda point to something. I think you are confused when you say "the two are in no way related", why aren't they? I don't understand why you are so concerned about protecting us "honest taxpayers" from people who "claim benefits when they should not" (which come on let's be honest amounts to a tiny fraction of the overall welfare bill) but you're happy to look the other way regarding those arseholes (individuals and corporations) that I refer to who are not "honest tax-payers", the ones who are milking the state for far more than £26k or whatever the amount of fraudulent claims amount to. In fact you go on to say you have "no concern with them". Then you get really confused when you say "as long as they have paid their fair dues" which really makes no sense as I am referring to those arseholes who haven't and continue to avoid doing so! Why is it so defensible to be so irate about "scroungers" at ther bottom but not the top of our society? Despite what you think I have no crusade against the wealthy per se, of course the majority of wealthy folk have earned their corn and have "fairly paid their dues" and of course I have no problem with that. However - and call me a fantastist if you like - I do kinda have a bit of a problem with unfairness and greed when people are using priviledges only they can afford to cheat the system to fuel lifestyles they just do not need, whilst others who were born into situations through no fault of their own - whether that be of lower intelligence, into broken homes, or in areas of mass unemployment and limited prospects - are forced into using food banks or deciding whether to eat or turn the heating on this winter, I just find it wrong. Sorry about that. I don't recall accusing you of being a Sun or Daily Fail reader by the way, I may have suggested something you posted sounded like it was of that persuasion, much like what you have posted above if you don't mind me saying, but I know you have stated in the past that you're not a Tory so that wasn't my angle. You have you opinion (which of course you are perfectly entitled to), and I have mine, which just happens to differ from yours (which again is entriely my right). However "lost it" I certainly have not, and of that I can assure you
In two years of records 2,500 people have been found "fit for work" by work capability assessments who have then subsequently died! The government seriously need to get this sorted, it's a national disgrace & starting to border on a form of socioeconomic cleansing. It's very very worrying, especially in that the government tried to cover this up by saying they didn't record these statistics before they were outed. Tbh this should be putting the immigration issue on the back burner in the news at least. It's incredibly sad & unbelievable in the 21st century that our government is actually causing deaths (labour are almost as culpable as they brought WCA in originally but I don't believe labour would be ignoring this the way the Tories are). Absolutely shocking
By the way it was interesting that you used that quote of Rob's to have a pop at me, I'd have preferred it had you used his next one he went on to say that what I had posted was "spot on"
Oh & fwiw I am on ESA for my illnesses which has no cure & no treatment it's £130 a week. HMRC has just screwed our tax credits claim so instead of the normal amount we're getting £90 a month & child benefit, that's it that's all WE get our social landlord gets the rent money & council pays the council tax. Does that sound like a lot of money to live off for a family of 4? Id rather be working but considering I am on opiate patches, I suffer from extreme tiredness & pain, many other neurological symptoms too along with random bouts of Vomiting might be 3 weeks & be OK or might be sick 3 days in a row. Pretty sure no employer is going to want me (assuming I could do it anyway) Point is I would rather work & be well we'd be thousands a year better off. I'm sure lots of others on ESA would equally love to work but..... The powers need to understand that it's pointless endlessly assessing & reassessing people as many aren't going to get better EVER. If you're going to have WCA tests they need to be fair, some tests you've failed if you manage to get into the building without help that's it before you've even signed in.... Classic example was atos WCA centre on 2nd floor of St Marys works (what it used to be called) with NO LIFT, yes they commissioned a disability assessment centre on 2nd floor with no lift you couldn't make it up so they were having to refer ppl to... IPSWICH!! Fact is welfare payments make up 1% of state spending (excluding pensions) so why the disproportionate attacks on welfare recipients when it's an almost insignificant percentage of spending? Government want to find cost savings of billions of pounds in this parliament, we'll perhaps if IDS hadn't wasted £16bn on Universal credit that would've paid for most of the cuts in this parliament! No doubt when IDS eventually leaves office he will be given a peerage so can continue his uselessness there & continue robbing the people. Considering the odious little **** failed to try to live on JSA when pulled up on it and then said anyone can live on it and then put a claim in for £30 breakfast! Tbh I think things have probably go be too far, it's only a matter of time right now until there's going to be some pretty serious civil unrest imho
It's alright Rick, we'll club together to make up the £2.5k for you to have a little "conversation" with IDS : Conservatives offer day of special access to ministers for £2,500 http://www.theguardian.com/politics...r-day-of-special-access-to-ministers-for-2500
lol I saw that at party conference, I said if I had the money I'd have paid it to curl one out on their pillows. Thing is I don't think Cameron is evil & malicious & at times I do genuinely think he comes across as he cares but IDS is just a complete ****. If it were me I'd like to see him pay every single penny he's wasted on UC back to the tax payer. What sort of moron spends that kind of money on something that doesn't even work. Apparently civil service call it universal cred because the IT doesn't work lmao! Trying to work out how were going to be able to put food on the table next month now we've just lost several hundred pounds a month thanks to HMRC not being able to read (sigh) Tbh I don't care what leader of what party does it but we need to stop stirring people up to pick on welfare claimants. The government pick on them & use dehumanising language, the media plaster the same rhetoric which then ends up with the general public turning the hate on benefit claimants. What happened to the live & let live, tolerant society we used to have? As far as I can see it starts with government then trickles down. Government should be leading the line saying there are some people who through no fault of their own need our help we should not be demonising them with ridiculous "examples". As stated before welfare is not a high % spend anyway but again government have done a brilliant job of distorting that fact too, the single biggest bill for government is PENSIONS at 25% I think off the top of my head but no one is pointing the finger there, or saying we're all in this together - snip hell they've even put that triple lock on pensions yet other benefits (including in work benefits) are being slashed leaving children potentially vulnerable. We should be protecting children from poverty at all costs because it's these people who will be your next generation of workers from professional jobs to manual labour. Time & again we see that children in poverty come out of education with lower grades than those with wealthier backgrounds. This Governments idea of eliminating poverty is to change the (internationally recognised) definition - genius problem solved. Sigh, soap box away again...
At least we've protected people with assets in excess of 600k so they don't have to pay as much inheritance tax when they pass away. And please don't tell me those people have all "worked their arses off all their lives for properties of that value", the reason house prices have rocketed up in the past five years or so is nothing to do with individual house owners "working hard", more the complete distortion of the housing market (certainly in London anyway) fuelled largely by government policies and overseas investors looking to make money out of the fake economy housing bubble. If I wanted to be selfish about it I'd be perfectly happy with this as we've almost doubled the value of our property since 2010 so technically "we're alright Jack". Not the way I do things though personally. Great post by the way Rich, agree with virtually all that
I can really sympathise with this guy http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dying-benefits-claimant-says-suicide-6336924 Assuming it's a real case & not someone faking it. This is exactly what it's like, it's OK if you get through relatively easily (thank god I did) but if you have to have a WCA then wait for the outcome, then get found fit for work, then appeal the decision because the WCA assessor has lied on the paperwork and on it goes. I'd apply for PIP but I just can't put myself through it, the form filling is OK spend a few weeks on it but the thought of going to a WCA & being put thru that & appeals followed by tribunals where you effectively have to answer questions in a court like appearance I think the stress of that would finish me off tbh. I attempted suicide when I was 20,was found in time luckily but I KNOW what it is like to be at that place, how you feel let alone if you're suffering from something like cancer too & fighting the state for help. It was made worse in 2010 after the Tories said legal aid was no longer available to help people fighting dwp for benefits. All I want to see is not look this guy is on benefits, but look here this guy has xx illness he needs all the support he can get we should be looking after the sick, elderly, disabled but we should also just try not to judge people & offer help to anyone who needs it. I saw a story of a young lad who saw someone about to jump off a bridge & he stopped and said something like "Are you ok?" & in the end talked the guy down, the young lad was only a teenager. I just think those 3 words should be asked more often.
This'll make you laugh, Camerons probably swam in sewerage in Cornwall http://www.independent.co.uk/news/p...ea-polluted-with-diluted-sewage-10476651.html Hahaha but it was probably his BS that caused the pollution
I see Labour bigwigs have finally accepted Corbyn will win in 2 weeks time & have come up with a plan to give him 18 months to sort the party out before ousting him. Very bloody democratic, we don't like the result so go away & try again. They want an elected shadow cabinet so he can't pick his own & want only ideas that majority of shadow cabinet agree with to become policies. Sounds to me like unless he agrees but vetoes certain policies (like scrapping trident) then they're setting Labour up to be business as normal but with a decent human being in charge. I'd like to think considering how he's managed to attract so many people so quickly that he will do the same with his own colleagues and can win them over, we shall see. Important thing is "weve" shown that business as normal is not the way labour will win voters back. Spoke to my dad last night him & mum haven't voted labour in nearly forever but he said they'd definitely be voting labour with Corbyn as leader, lots of others I've spoken to have said the same so if it keeps going the way it's going I think he could very well attract enough of the electorate in 2020 Also given how labour elders have reacted Labour will be like I said Corbyn in control but overall end up left of centre because of compromises to the rest of the party and that's exactly where Blair put the party in 97. Make of that what you will....
No disrespect, but where the hell do these things come from? It's like those cards with words made up by people in rooms with no windows.
And why would an 'Angel' end up in Hell in the first place ? I find it strange how so many swallow so much of the left wing propaganda on here yet dismiss anything printed by the right or indeed centre right press as total tosh. Left or right, each and everyone of them dress things up to fit their own agenda.
I'm sorry but that is exactly what Blair means about Alice in Wonderland politics. You seriously think that two in five of the electorate will vote for Corbyn? I find it astonishing that anyone might think that. And it's not that he wants to do things that I disagree with, Trident and Railways I would support strongly. Do you have any idea how many people would come here if we had an open door immigration policy? My guess is that it would be several million, mainly poor and uneducated from the basket case Islamic countries. Just how do you intend to counter the Daily Mail headlines? I don't doubt that Corbyn would win an extra 5% of the vote from the Green/Left but he will lose 15% from the centre. And why not give him 18months? If your argument is correct by spring 2017 we will see Labour well ahead in the polls and in May we will have elections to support those polls. If Labour are the leading party and are above 35% of the vote share then I will support them again. My suspicion though is that however unpopular Cameron becomes a Corbyn led Labour party will never crack 25%.
