What this says to me is that as a 2mil player this kid has decided fighting for a place isn't for him.

Last year at lb and reb he showed a bit of fight. I thought he was poor before he did that but his attitude then impressed me... this?

Loaning him out makes sense, loaning him out to Turkey does not.

He needs to play and would not get into the team at the moment as we have too many players who are rightly ahead of him. He's really not been good enough so far and needs to improve.

Hopefully he'll have a good season and come back a better player.

 

Here is the problem. As a youth prospect, Lazar never played anywhere other than up front. He was never taught defensive positioning beyond the basics, he was never taught tracking a man beyond the basics, he was never taught tackling beyond the basics.

He was given a creative role on the left under Stanojevic, where he broke out as a top European talent. He was played as a striker with license to roam (less effectively) under Avram Grant. He was given freedom under Jorge Jesus at Benfica as a 10 and a winger in a fluid front 3. It was here that he attracted so much attention and was one of the most talented young players seen in Portugal in the past two decades. And I can find you the opinions of Benfica supporters all around the internet to back that claim up.

And when he was signed for Liverpool what happened? All of a sudden, sorry. We can't afford to bed in a young player. We can't afford to maximize his chance at assimilating because we need to grind out results by playing a 5-3-2 (so successfully, I will add, that we finished a breathtaking 6th). He will have to fight for his spot in a defensive role.

This is the reason why we can't attract the best young talent in the world. When we finally do, our manager is so focused on himself and being stubborn that he won't bother helping them out. Integrate or die within a season. Unless of course you're his favourite. I mean, Rodgers gave Downing chance after chance after chance. He gave Lallana start after start after start despite the lad being ineffective at best. He gave Joe ****ing Allen 3 seasons despite him being the worst midfielder in the squad. He gave Lovren the nod over France and PSG captain Sakho.

Markovic has quality. He needs a run in the squad. Lord knows Ibe , as great as the kid is for his age, hasn't shown he's able to be a starter yet this season. So why send out his competition? To Fenerbahce of all teams. FFS. "He prefers Moreno in that role" based on what? The 20 minutes in his career he's played there?

Call me deluded. Maybe I don't know better than a professional manager. But I've seen Lazar's professional debut and he's not being given the opportunity he deserves to show his talent for us. And unless he's useless pylon in training, that's on the manager to provide. Especially when those ahead of him are not performing. For all you know Lallana and Ibe wont kick on.

 

So you're counting goals in comps that benteke is yet to play in now? I guess this is like counting the EL goals last year
