Don't know if anyone else bothered going up today, awful weather but would've been a very boring day otherwise so got a cheap train up to Berwick and watched the match.

Won 2-1 in a relatively uneventful match. Team was as follows:
Soderberg, Nicholson (Knight 68), Toland (Storey 63), McDermott (Sayer 63), Turton (Aird 63), Nzuzi, Moyo (Campbell 68), Inman (Ions 68), Airey (Dan Taylor 46), Newton (Miele 58), Edmundsson (McGorrigan 68).

Didn't recognise half the players to be honest but thought Moyo was especially good on the wing and scored a decent goal after having previously clipped the bar. Looked constantly dangerous, good pace and wasn't afraid to beat his man and took his goal very well. Thought Inman played quite well in midfield too and Nzuzi played ok at the back despite giving away a very soft penalty for the Berwick goal.

However, was very disappointed with Airey. This was about the fourth time I've seen him and I'm still not convinced about his ability (although it was only his second game back so not jumping to too many conclusions yet). He seemed very reluctant to shoot at times and when he did he scuffed most of them horribly wide and I don't recall him winning too much in the air either. He did make some decent runs but then his end product often let him down.

Soderberg looked a bit shaky in goal too, flapping at a few shot/crosses, and Berwick were unlucky not to have scored a few more having hit the woodwork a couple of times with Soderberg looking stranded.

Just my thoughts on the game if anyone was interested. Anyone else go and agree/disagree?

Good thread, have some Rep! Did many others travel up for the game? Glad we won and sounds like we have a few good young players. Would you say any of them are ready for the step up to first team? I know what you mean about Airey, I've seen him 3 times and I can't see how he is supposed to have potential. He got sent off n one of the games for stamping (SBO). He came on as a sub and was ****e in one game. The other was stevenage away but most of or team was ****e that day.

Was the sending off against Aston Villa in the Under 18's Semi Final in April 2010.

Can't remember, It might have been. He got his first yellow for getting back at the bloke who snapped (and got away with it) our centre half (Henderson think?). Then he stamped on someone in the second half.

Cheers, erm about 400 were there I'd say about 150 wearing Newcastle colours, a few drunk middle age men chanting in the old stand opposite the main stand who were quite funny.
Wouldn't have said anyone was anywhere near first team standard yet, but would like to keep an eye on Inman and Moyo in particular.
Was at the match where he got sent off and was disappointed with him then too, needs to step it up if he wants to be like C*rroll or Shearer.

I was disappointed with Airey but I've seen him play much better. Moyo is the new Sammy Ameobi! we all had a laugh despite only a handful turning up

Wouldn't have minded going but was knackered after last night. Not much fun once you get past 21.

Don't remember that, do remember Henderson getting taken out of the game by one of the Villa player and I don't think the ref even gave a free kick.
