Yep, overall I rate Debuchy as a better full back right now. A couple of goals and a handful of assists mean nothing if you're conceeding more at the other end

There's something that I criminally dislike about Janmaat. He makes too many high risk passes that end up in the wrong target. I like his threat going forward but he needs to correct his rash passing. Gives the ball away cheaply way too much for my liking and causes our attack to breakdown and a counter attack against us. Could solidify our RB position for years to come if he rectifies this problem

I've noticed that as well and they are often square or slightly forward passes when he is well forward down the right which then leave him woefully out of position and ending up either having to foul or drag the guy back ala Swansea.

I like both but think Debuchy offers a little more defensively. To be honest I'd have Nathaniel Clyne ahead of both - that kid is so determined not to beaten when defending. Best signing Liverpool have made in ages.

We seem to have a knack of having half decent fullbacks, then selling them on under a cloud of fan disgust only for them never to be heard of again.

See, Enrique, Habib, Debuchy, Simpson, etc etc etc.

Grass isn't always greener is it.

Bernard, Domi, Beresford, Watson, etc, etc, etc.

Of the two I'd prefer Debuchy in my team but not by much. Janmaat is one of our best players he just need to keep his composure better and focus on simple things like retaining possession.

As for the goals it really isn't how I would judge a full back. For the record Debuchy scored against Sunderland, Janmaat against Northampton.

I'm sure we could ask one of them nicely to play left back and so have BOTH.

Debuchy was one of the bravest headers of the ball you will ever face. That really is able to win fans over. However he joined us when he was about 28,29? He couldnt have lasted that long with us and to be honest, we sold him at the correct time.

It was smart business and I agreed with it. We saw an opportunity to get an international full back for a paltry fee, knowing full well in a year or so we would double our money. He's 30 now, we'd be looking at getting our money back. We brought in another international full back who is entering his peak years. I often refer to the club not doing things for football reasons, only for money. On this occasion as you say, they got it absolutely right.
