Rumours are he'll sign a 4 yr deal with us before Monday. Price â¬10m. If this is true great, but 2 things 1. I think he will be the last signing of the summer and 2. I've a feeling he's a Comolli only suggestion with Kenny happy for him to come in but it was Damian's doing.
addresses one of our problem positions of the last couple of seasons. Still need a CB in my opinion though so hope it isn't the last signing this summer
I've a feeling he's a Comolli only suggestion. Not necessarily. I reckon its a two way thing,Kenny knows the UK market and knows the values and characteristics that a potential Liverpool player must have.He was taught them when he was a player.DC knows the overseas market. Its his area of expertise. Now if Both think that Aly Cissokho is the best thats currently out there, then I believe them.I reckon he matches up to what they measured all the other players they signed on.There is a long list of things they looked at.
If the rumours are true, he's an excellent signing. We have a problem at left-back and he will sort that out.
Chris. If we sign a left back and a centre back,I'll be 100% convinced our squad is back up to the standard it was in 2008/2009...if not possibly stronger that that.
If this is true then we've covered practically every position that needs strengthening (and more... CM example). I'm not overly convinced we need a new CB, especially with Kelly, Wisdom and Wilson ready to play there. Left back is a definite priority though; and I'm glad reports are saying we're addressing that next. The only other signing I'd like to see is a quick backup striker. If Suarez gets injured then I can see us struggling a little bit; with little flair in that position.
We won't sign any players who Dalglish doesn't want (at least i like to think so). Presumably DC scouted him out and consulted with Kenny. The likes of Adam, Downing, Carroll etc. were undoubtedly driven by Kenny, so I can't see a player suddenly coming in without his consent.
I seriously doubt that any of our new players will have been either KK or DC pics. I strongly believe that all of our targets will have been agreed between the pair of them with DC given the task of negotiating the deal, I just don't see personal preferences being allowed in our new set-up.
DC is a modern day Geoff Twentyman or Tom Saunders, whereby scouts of old scoured the UK and Ireland for youth prospects and decent players that slipped through the net modern day scouts scour the globe. If DC recommends a player to KK he can reject his recommendation,As dave points out and i agree that a working relationship between the two must have been agreed by all parties before Kenny signed his contract.
To be honest, I can't think of a better option from within the UK (aside from the unpurchaseable Ashley Cole or Patrice Evra) So if this is a commoli signing then it's a good one. I'm happy we have Commoli on board as he has made some superb mid range signings in the past while ours have been meh at best
I think he means Enrique or Baines...one of which I'd say is unpurchaseable for us at his market value.
