I don't even rate him that highly. I'm not exactly over the moon with the direction that United are going in at the minute but if we do become the kind of club the press are desperate to portray us as then my interest might start to wane which would be a shame after 30+ years of borderline devotion!
Yeah, I agree with this to be honest. He's not even that good, nowhere near worth it anyway, and you'd really think they'd have learned their lesson after Di Maria. Obscene money on a player who might not even settle down over here. Must say, on the one hand I'm genuinely excited at the prospect of witnessing Schweinsteiger in a United shirt on Sunday but on the other a bit depressed by our pusuit of players I've no affinity with and don't really want to come.
£240M this morning, so funny and apparently you lot are not put off by that price. The sports journos in this country should all be sacked.
£240m. If United actually carry our this madness, they will have destroyed in one go the established football order. All footballers will be revalued. How much will the likes of Madrid Barca and Bayern need to spend to bring in the best players? How much will the other premiership clubs then spend? Interesting scenario. Probably won't happen.
£240 million includes taxes and his wages for 5 years £130 million buy out clause £35 million tax add ons £75 million over 5 years in wages
Not too bad then. Woodward may well go for it. Using his business model it looks a possibility although not a probability. That would be some statement of intent! PS: It is interesting how he (W) has changed from someone looking for value for money and negotiating good deals to one desperately looking to bring players at the very top end of the market (whether we need them or not)
If there's any truth in the rumours then Adidas are probably behind it. They want a mega name wearing the United shirt. Neymar is a poster boy and will sell a gajillion t-shirts. I couldn't be less in favour of this proposed transfer.
I can understand the business model although I do not agree with it. 1. Keep United in the top 4 and therefore participation in the CL (Tick) 2. Maintain United's global popularity and sell more shirts and sponsorships (Tick) 3. Competitive team to acheive target 1 (Tick) 4. Buy top and VERY expensive *star players to achieve Target 2 (In progress: ADM has left and needs replacing). Winning the title once in a while will keep the money men happy. In financial terms, winning the title, makes hardly any difference. UEFA has tried to rectify this by giving title winners an easier run in the CL.
Neymar guide to improving Barca's contract offer (when it comes) - 1 - Have your agent visit OT and get photographed (see above at last weekend's game) 2 - Have said agent flood the media with stories of a move and 'quotes' from the players stating that he 'may be open to a move' 3 - Repeat step 2 until contract negotiations have been completed
Neymar is an icon in Brazil, imagine the shirt sales plus sponsorship opportunities in Brazil. It actually makes good business sense, it won't happen though
Neymar looks great - in fact is great - in a fluid, attacking side like Barca. Put him in our current side with our plodding, almost pedestrian approach play (coupled with a pair of opposition CBs who will kick the crap out of him) and he would be made to look quite ordinary. So no thanks. Has anyone got a diagram or a picture of a CF and a CB to send to Woodward so he knows what one looks like.
I have an old Alan Shearer diagram somewhere has his shoe size and everything, do you think that'll do?
Has nothing been learnt from the Ramos farce? Wonder if I tell my boss United have interest in me I can get a pay rise too?
