A point away from home against a very physical and committed side who haven't actually been beaten yet.
That was an awful performance, we didn't even deserve the clean sheet we got. Watford should have won.
An away point would have been fine if we were playing an established PL team or we were unlucky and deserved to win. The fact is we were poor and we've got to get a grip.
I thought the defense looked more solid as the game went on. Romeu looked good. That's about all I can say positive about that match.
Do you think the issue is a lack of confidence? I'm not watching this game, but sometimes I wonder if the difference between this season and last season is the expectations. Last season everyone had us tipped for relegation, but the team never really sat back and went "well, everyone says we'll get relegated, we're rubbish"... they fought and they showed people that actually they were good players/a competent team. This season people seem to expect us to replicate last season, but now are looking at the team and going "...oh". Are they underconfident because it's not going well... or are they sometimes a bit overconfident and expect things to happen sometimes rather than actually having to work for openings etc.? I'm not sure, but sometimes I do wonder if it's as likely to be overconfidence as underconfidence.
Boring game, but the writing was on the wall when Mane went off injured as he is our only real creative outlet. Not too fussed by a point though, was what I was expecting
Uninspired, boring game. Still early days but we need to pick up some points and pull our fingers out before the 'big 6' fixtures start rolling in.
Not a pretty game but good to get a clean sheet and more positive signs than negative. Romeu looked very good. Most players put in a good shift and worked hard but both sides gave the ball away far too easily for my liking
I know what you mean Tom, but we got dragged into a physical clogger by a physical clogging team. That was their game-plan, and we fell into it, both in terms of performance and formation. It felt like a cup tie against a lower league opposition, and we've struggled enough with them in our time.
Established PL team? Watford have started decently. It doesn't matter if they are established or not.
Pretty accurate comment I would say. Awful football, difficult to name anyone who looked good. Good job Watford were just as bad.
From the limited viewing from the 55th minute that I had it seemed we rarely got out of our own half so we had plenty of cover But agree the one thing we can take from this game is the clean sheet.
