Oriol Romeu the only positive in that half for me. Very little creativity or attacking threat thus far.
I'd also sub Jay for Pelle if the second half continues in this fashion. Not a "ugh fire Pelle into the sun", but this seems a game in which we might need to stretch their defense out if we're to get anything.
This is the sort of game thats screaming for Clasie or Juanmi to provide a link from midfield, as it is we're kind of just lumping it up to Pelle, Long and Caulker (for some reason.) Very poor overall with Watford playing like thugs and the home crowd providing all the atmosphere of a GP waiting room. Take off Caulker and bring on Tadic or Juanmi methinks.
It's a physical game in part because we're playing into their hands by lumping the ball forward. That's what I'd like to change.
Agreed, but that would necessitate taking off Caulker and putting a more creative mind in the midfield, whilst taking the kicks - which suits me. Got to disagree that we've not missed Mané - I think he puts the fear into defences that Long doesn't. I think we've missed him a lot.
Things will NOT change until all transfers are made & the team starts to gel . 10th - 14th I expect , but we will NOT win this .
On the issue of the atmosphere, I find it quite unsavoury to cheer an opposition player taking a sliding tackle to the head.
We absolutely miss Mane; no disagreement there. We also need to find a way to get someone with a bit of creativity in the middle of the pitch...all three games this season there has been a dead zone behind the forward line.
I like the three defenders at the back because even when it seemed like things could get sketchy, there as someone there to clear the ball. But with three defenders, we don't need two out and out defensive midfielders, expect maybe when we're playing at Etihad or Stamford bridge. So i suggest to take one out, let Davis take his role, and bring an attacking player.
I agree, I am suprised they have moved Anya back into defence when arguable he has put in the most dangerous crosses for Watford.
