    Jonathan Edwards made a jokey comment about the Hill aspect of Ennis-Hill when Denise Lewis was talking about the heptathlon and said blah, blah, Jessica Ennis...... ... .... ... Hill.
    The comment was something like, Oh whatever you do, don't forget the Hill, and everyone chuckled, knowingly I felt. :)

    Ennis-Hill goes into final event with a 6 second lead. Johnson-Thompson out of contention after failing to record a long jump (her best event :()....tried too hard, I suppose.

    Usain Bolt gives the others in his 100m semifinal a start by nearly falling over. He still won though. Just. Never seen him look so vulnerable in a major championship.

    I've always said double names spell trouble. In 100 years we'll be looking to sign Johnny Wanyama-Benzama-Hernandez-Fernandez-Rodriguez-Lallana-Bumfluff.

    It just doesn't fit on a shirt.

    Well done Jessica. You are brilliant and amazing! Hope Kenya can get the 1,2 and 3 in the men's 800m final but they need to be aware of the very fast finishing Buka of Bosnia.

    Wouldn't it be great if the winner of the 100m was not Bolt or Gatlin but someone different. Tyson Gay!! Only one European runner, Jimmy Vicaut who ran 9.99 to get to the final. As far as I know, 4 of the finalists have served bans for having been administered the wrong medicine by a doctor!!

    I admit he is class! I just think the media overhype him. There are other great athletes including our own Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis-Hill and the media do not fawn over them the same way they do with Usain Bolt.

    That's Usain Bolt, by far the greatest sprint athlete that has ever lived (how is that overhyped!?) and who does it (as far as has been proven) without cheating...and you want Gatlin (twice banned) to beat him? I just don't get that at all.

    A few years back I did some work with Kriss Akabusi and Derek Redmond - you really should talk to them (especially Derek) about how it feels to sacrifice your life to athletics, to train obsessively for an event, then line up on the starting blocks looking across at someone dosed up to the eyeballs knowing because of that you have no chance of beating them.
