Snapped up by Glenn Hoddle at 19 from Derby. Hoddle thought he would play in the middle of a back 3. Range of passing touch vision, got the lot. An England international
I thought he was the best signing we have ever made in that first PL season. His touch and vision were a joy to behold. Just trapping a ball was done better than anyone.
A piss poor season in the PL last season, part of the reason we were relegated was the black hole he fell down.

Now subbed by a Championship team for the second time in 4 days. The first time he actually played ok. Today he was anonymous. Negative weak slow.
Bruce has been touting him around for weeks. It will be a miracle if anyone buys him.

Truly awful display from a player who had the chance to be great.

We'll have to get rid of some of these players somehow even if we have to sell them cheap, they just use up our wages and don't add anything. They are like a handicap we have to overcome as they keep getting picked.

He's supposed to be great but he never is, what's the odds someone will come on here soon and say how great he will be for us? Same old story, its the Emperors New Clothes with Hundredstone. Bruce will be disappointed we are stuck with him with no funds for a keeper and a missed opportunity to get Gray. He is a luxury player and we don't even get the luxury from him

It was like that all last season, Livermore and Huddlestone in all the time and down we went, sunk like the Titanic, and every week you would hear how good Huddlestone is?! End result- relegation

I don't think he's contributed anything for about a year and a half.

I don't see that changing any time soon.

He hasn't played anywhere near his own standards, but is still better than our other midfielders, even today, he was better than Meyler.

Our team has a real lack of movement and it doesn't fit very well with Hudds game, he gets the ball and you can see him look up and nothings on, so he goes backwards or sideways. In a coherent performing team he's fine. In the first half, the only rest bite we had from Charltons attacks where when Hudds showed the composure to simply move the ball in too space.

On a side note but sticking to people being harsh on players. Our strikers our constantly bashed for not putting in effort or seeming like they don't want to be here. I think it's nonsense. Jelavic complains when he doesn't get a pass/cross the same way as he always has. It seems like our strikers do nothing because essentially they are given nothing to do. Its said Grey misses 6 chances before scoring, our strikers are lucky to get 6 chances between them.

He is a very good passer of the ball
Sadly a pass he doesn't seem to make anywhere near enough is one which puts s striker through on goal

He will be in the MLS soon enough as the championship is looking to much for him.

I could see him fitting in well in the MLS as a designated player, good pay day for him and a slower paced game.

Really don't like slagging players off, but he does seam to be the weakest link at the moment, come on SB do what your paid for, manage the team and stop picking your favourites, pick players on there form.

Yea he would do well although I'm not sure with his current salary he would get a raise. It's not as slow anymore as it used to be, remember there are a ton of European players in the league now. He would have more time on the ball than the championship for sure. If he became available there would be a long list of teams interested in him.

We have a few players who are out of form :- Robertson looks weak defensively and his crossing is very hit and miss, Davies started well but today looked rather shakey today, Huddz - been off form since the start of last season, Elmo looks less happy and less involved in midfield, Jelavic does not look a happy bunny.
We need Maloney to be like a Quinniesta type player, as I think that is what me are missing in the midfield.

If the Wight-Phillips can get a contract for New York, then Huddz would be welcomed with open arms.

Huddlestone was truly terrible today. I hate picking out on players but this guy hasn't given us anything for about a year. Hayden was a breath of fresh air when he came on. Moving forwards and bringing attackers into the game and having shots at goal, one of which ( I think was him) even hit the post. Bruce for me has to drop the deadwood in the team, which for me are Huddlestone and Jelavic. After todays performance, I'd play them both against Rochdale and if we still cant get any effort, id drop them for the remainder of the season (until needed). We cant carry deadwood, whilst pushing for promotion.

we need an engine in the midfield with a bit of flair, one think that I've noticed this season is by midway through the second half of games(applies to last season as well) we look like a disorganise rabble, is this down to poor fitness.

No one played well for 70 minutes but no way was Hudd the worst. He created space for himself on a few occasions but there was no movement ahead of him in the first half so he had to go sideways again. Jelavic just waits for the ball to come to him and Akpom didn't run the channels at all. Elmo and Aluko seemed reluctant to go passed their man and Robbo and Odubajo were constantly slipping so there was no forward movement. We were so much more effective when Hernandez came on because we had someone making good runs ahead of the midfield.

He might be able to handle Serie A but I think even they are wanting more mobile players now, you need to be Pirlo to get away with Huddlestones movement and even he's gone to MLS
