He played wide left against wham, but always played CM for the U-18's and U-21's. Played both attacking CM and def-mid. When Ian Cartwright was running the Academy he used to play them out of position as part of their education, but now the kids are brought through the ranks in their favoured position, then when they get to the first team, all of a sudden they are asked to play somewhere else, which seems wrong.

Was that when Yado Mambo was played all across the back 4? I seem to remember him being slightly critical of that when he left.

Two of the five City players alluded to in the introduction haven't played for us this season. Livermore is awaiting news regarding his failed drugs test and Diame is only just back in training. I must confess to having lost touch a little with the Championship whilst we've been away, and not knowing an awful lot about how your lot play, although I've seen you a few times. The impression I'm getting is that you're solid at the back but lack a little bit of guile/invention going forward, especially if Tony Watt is out, who you lot seem to rate pretty highly.

As for us, on the off chance you're interested. We probably have the best back line in the Championship. Davies and Dawson as centre-backs are formidable at this level, and whilst Odebaju and Robertson can be caught out positionally at full-back, they are a real threat going forward. We'll almost certainly go 4-4-2, and there's a chance we could see some rotation due to the fixture congestion, but I wouldn't expect anything drastic. We have a few options up front; Chuba Akpom who's on-loan from Arsenal scored 2 in his first 2 games, whilst Jelavic & Hernandez looked decent against Fulham on Tuesday.

I'm coming down for the game tomorrow, so hopefully get something a little bit more exciting than our recent trips to the Valley. I had expected a tricky tie with a draw the most likely result, but the impression I'm getting from your end is that Watt, Solly and Reza will be big misses, and I'm now fancying our chances of taking all three points, which is a pretty new feeling after last season. What are Watt and Solly's chances of playing? I'm aware the other lad is definitely out. All the best for the season after Saturday anyway. :emoticon-0148-yes:

With the forward line we are putting out tomorrow we have no chance of winning.

I'm here for this one, on the back of some personal issues. I was hoping to see Tony Watt in action, but looks like it'll be a tough afternoon for the Addicks, but none of this defeatist rubbish. We'll have the same number of players on the putch as them at the start. This is'nt a league match because they were unbeatable last term.
Let' s see a bit of backbone people.

He only ever played central defence for the Youth teams. Poyet was the exception, played exactly the same position in exactly the same way.

More or less as I forecast, except Ceballos instead of A-G. The Spaniard must be showing something in training. And Diarra instead of Sarr, which is obviously preferable if Diarra has the legs for it.

I think GL has done the best he can with a threadbare squad.

I really like the look of Kashi and Ba in the heart of our midfield. Both of whom look comfortable on the ball and as if they really relish the defensive side of their duties.

I can see why people have reservations where Big Mak is concerned. For me it don't look as if he makes the most of his considerable hight advantage over most of the human race.

Not bad from us so far but little goal threat. Our bench is frighteningly young.

He is awful. I don't know why anyone would stick up for him. He looks like a robotic giant in a movie when the remote is damaged and it gets out of control. Bring back Simon Church!

    ****ing idiotic by GL...!

The second BA went off we statred losing everything in the middle of the park. Charles-Cook looks completely out of his depth.

    2 points lost IMO.

Ba was excellent. But I suspect he may have an ongoing minor problem, not just cramp, and they were trying to protect him for the future. Otherwise I cannot see why he was left out against Derby and Forest in favour of the ineffective Ceballos after playing so well against QPR (and why he was taken off in that match, as well)..
