Cracking read. Nice to see a response. He obviously does care as well by watching from wherever he was last week. Today is a day to get behind Short, Dick, the club and the Lads. HWTL & KTF.
That's my wife's nickname for me... Never worked out why but she says it lovingly!!! I tweeted Michael Geay asking for a response to the comments... Will see what he says
A truly excellent and fair piece of writing. That he has put money in is great, that he has needed to consistently bail things out is a worry (though was already known to an extent) and raises a query as to how the club may be being financially mismanaged? That is not me saying that is the case but more than other clubs seem to have more money with less or comparable revenue coming in (perhaps they are sailing towards bankruptcy themselves, only time will tell). Although battling relegation isn't a great existence it is an impressive run in the top flight I guess. Any update on Ricky Alverez, the Vergini bit reminded me of that.
Actions rather than words Ellis....Let DA buy the players he needs to turn around this mess. But pleased to see him raise his head above the parapet
So... Ellis says nothing and gets slated for it. Ellis says something and gets told you don't want to hear it you want to see the actions? How can the bloke win?
Very good read and I for one feel reassured and I can see things from his point of view regarding about spending the money effectively and that there may be more money spent. I believe what he says and I believe DA words and that they are up for the fight its just the players. And for me we will get an answer today as to whether they are up for fight. I hope they are and I hope the SOL is rocking after reading this as we all do need to stick together. Or and i hope we spend some more money
show in his actions, there were a lot of clubs below us during Shorts reign who are better than we are now, stop the stagnation in players and get some quality in, and when dick leaves, a top flight manager, not an inexperienced young buck, or a has been no body wants.
That bit about going for "an angry walk", I like it. It shows it's not just a business to him, he feels it too. Every credit Ellis, you've shot up in my estimation............................over to you Mickey Gray !
Micky great will say **** all man! He's not got the bottle when he's been called out about something. But I've tweeted him so it'll be interesting to see if he responds
I like the fact he has come out and said something. 21.5m in investment but what about the 9m back from Wickham. I think Micky Gray will havea point if we don't see a couple more decent players come in. Even if the 21.5m includes the wickham money contra its still half what we were promised. I personally do like Ellis and think he is a good owner. We are were we are and we just need to do the best we can with the hand dealt.
Fair play to him for having the respect for the club and the fans to set the record straight. I think there's also an element of clearing his own name from the tarnishing it's had lately.
Its good Ellis has spoken, is the real problem the better players wont come to Sunderland, I cant believe we have not tried to get them?
Not sure what exactly what I said there was any way contentious........Its good to hear from the guy (Like I said)...but much more important if his words were backed up with actions....I would think hard to disagree with that. But, whatever!!
Totally underwhelming, a few thinly veiled digs at fans, previous owners and chairman don't help Mr Short. Why not go deeper and explain why our board is made up from your mates and people with little to no previous experience in football at the highest level? You don't usually feel the need to respond to criticism? Well you own a football club now Ellis not some faceless cloak and dagger investment company. People care about this more than anything else your involved with maybe you need to realise this. As for your angry walk, get to **** and when you get there keep going. I will not accept any of what he's said nor do I think Michael Gray should apologize until there is proof on the pitch no more excuses just put it right or let Samson have your column in the next programme.
A good businessman will secure the future of your club ahead of pandering to requests for marquee players, a bad businessman will buy the players and be Mr Popular before getting the club in trouble. Short looks like he want to be a popular good businessman and they're a rare breed. Right off to the match, it's Magpie vs Devil in crest wars haha ****ing walk in the park for Damien!
